Have I mentioned that Taysom Hill is from Southeast Idaho?

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

uh-huh. He's got a lantern jaw. Google it. Pat Tillman had one too.
I Googled it. The first result was:

Just as a disclaimer, I think there is a 0% chance that Taysom WINS the Heisman this year. With that said, it really wasn't until aTm beat Alabama on November 10th last year that Manziel had his coming out party, becoming the Heisman favorite. There has been some light buzz in the national media about Taysom being a potential Heisman candidate over the last week or so. Does anyone else think it is possible that he gets invited to New York as a Heisman finalist with big performances against Wisconsin and Notre Dame?

In your hypothetical scenario comparing Taysom to Manziel, will Wisconsin or Notre dame be ranked #1 in the country when BYU plays them? As it stands now, it is possible that neither Wisconsin nor Notre dame will be ranked at all when BYU comes to town.

Excellent post! I like where this thread is heading.
Sporting News ranks Taysom #15 in their college football top 25.
Still learning as a thrower (accuracy, decision-making), but no one runs the zone read play better. Once he gets more comfortable as a thrower, he could develop into the game’s best player. He’s that talented.

I'm a lot more cautious about the upside of Taysom Hill. Still learning as a thrower??? Hill is 23 and will be a junior in 2014. IMO, any improvements in Hill's passing will be incremental rather than substantial.
I've seen these predictions before with running/dual threat QBs. There's so much more room for improvement because running QBs often have problems with accuracy and reading defenses. And too often observers think that once a running QB starts throwing more accurately and to the open receiver, then the sky is the limit because the QB is such a threat running the ball. But the reality is that most running QBs improve in small increments, continue to have accuracy issues, and throw into coverage or miss open receivers.
Taysom Hill could still end up being one of BYU's best QBs. But it will be more a result of Anae adapting BYU's offense around Hill's limitations and strengths as a QB, not because Hill develops into Steve Young. And Steve Young is a good measuring stick because I think that's what's expected when the Sporting News writer mentions: "...could develop into the game's best player". I think it more likely that Hill improves incremently, which still makes him a very good player. I see Taysom Hill more similar to Eric Crouch at Nebraska who continued to struggle with accuracy and reading defenses but still turned out to be an excellent college QB and in the minds of many Heisman voters - the game's best player.
