First, I should say that I think these _____out things are stupid in general. But, then, I also think that modular uniforms are dumb, so I'm no fun.

That said, I don't think the blue/white thing will be a disaster. It will just result in a bunch of blue and white scattered randomly throughout the stadium and consequently look like any other gameday. Unless, of course, it's cold, in which case you'll have all those coats and jackets and stuff.

The 90 game was a big comeback, I believe two weeks after Miami. Deter was huge. Kinda funny to think how much college football had changed, BYU got a P10 team to come to Provo back to back years with no return game.

I'm pretty sure the 89 game was a Thursday nighter, I remember the late night drive home with cougswin. I hope that's not a bad omen.

This year will end my two game streak of attending BYU-WSU games in person. I have no recollection of the previous two.

Does Wazzu have any sort of presence anymore on the college football landscape? What a shambles of a program. No real message board, no significant media coverage, even in Washington, no buzz of any kind.

On an equally disturbing note, Wazzu has dubbed its student section the ZZU CRU, which means WSU will never win anything of significance as punishment from the football gods.

I went to the first one. Holmoe or Todd Shell returned an INT for a pick 6 and I think I recall the first play from scrimmage BYU had inserted Steve Young as a tailback and he hit either Mike Eddo or Scott Collie, perhaps it was Plater but likely neither he nor I recall anymore, for a bomb after taking a toss from Jimmy"Fucking"McMahon!

                Damn I love BYU football!

Bleacher Report is all over this game. The opening paragraph really grabs your attention:

I have to pick the first game. It is not only the first game for both teams, and the first game for Mike Leach at Washington State, but it is also one of the first games in all of college football this season. It is being played on Thursday, August 30th. This is opening day of the 2012 college football season.

That actually kind of surprises me, mostly because of the College Gameday flag thing. I figured they must have a decent fan and communications network.

I would be surprised (mildly) if we win by more than 10. I think the line should be about 8 or 9.

I watched all of WSU's spring game. I also watched two of their spring practices and have read everything I can about them and seen as many YouTube clips of their practices as I can find.

                        Here's how I see it ...

WSU has a senior QB who is an NFL prospect who is going to be running the best offensive system in college football over the past 15 years coached by the best offensive coach in college football. Senior QB's are difficult to deal with. Leach is difficult to deal with. They will score points against us.

They also have a good receiving corps and a great TE nobody has ever heard of (Lintz) who reminds me so much of our great TE's it's scary. It's like Pitta was cloned. The guy is going to be really good this year.

This will be their first game running Leach's offense, but his system is so simple that they have more reps running his stuff than most guys have after two years in a system. There will probably be a few growing pains, but I expect them to execute well offensively.

The problem is their defense is not very good and I expect us to be able to move the ball consistently against them, control the clock, and limit our mistakes to beat them by a touchdown or so. (I almost got excited about our offense for a second, until my left brain kicked in and I was forced to write the words "consistently," "control the clock," and "limit our mistakes" to describe our offense. That hurts.)

Last I looked at their Scout board the majority of the discussion was about the flag and how to ensure it got to the next location.

That was at least 2 years ago to be fair though.

For those that need them, plenty of tix available for the Washington State game.

This game is basically two weeks away and I want to get really excited but there doesn't seem to be much buzz yet. Can anyone please help? Thanks.
