    1) Anticipation and excitement over how good the team is.

    2) Anticipation and excitement over how good or the reputation level of the
    opponent.

    3) Loud up beat music getting folks hyped up.

    4) Other people around who are excited for the game and not just showing up
like they are attending another church meeting.

I am afraid BYU creating a great game day experience would be like me trying to create a great experience for my grandchilren by having them listen to Frank Sinatra and watching Father Knows Best reruns.
Until this thread I was unaware that you were interested in scheduling quality opponents at home.

Any opinion on if my points were valid or not or are you just training as DDD's protege?

I imagined this scene of DDD, NMD and '71 (maybe the ages are off a bit)...

Look, I attended every football home game for BYU from 1982-1994, and from 1996-1999, and every game at Alabama from 1999-2004. I can honestly say that I would get really excited for about 2 home games a year at Alabama. But there was not a lot of complaining when they played, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, UTEP,Middle Tennessee State, etc, and there were 3 to 4 such games on the schedule every year! There was also Vanderbilt, Mississippi and Miss. State, at least one every year if not two. And during those games the Bama fans would sit there quietly waiting for the Tide to crush theo other team like it was a sabbath morning in church, albeit a drunken one, where the congregants would get profanely angry if Bama did not win by 6 touchdowns.

I don't recall a lot of bellyaching from folks about how bad the teams were, I just recall a lot of reveling in winning. I realize that the situations are not totally analogous, in that Bama can afford to take it easy with their out of conference schedule, and we cannot.

What I was saying in a snarky way, and I should have been more thoughtful, is that I think quality of opponent might be more important to you that anyone I have ever (pseudo) known. I agree whole heartedly that we need to upgrade our opponents, and that is especially true in Independence, but I am not going to get down and give up on BYU because we have some crappy teams on our home schedule.

Which one am I? The goony one in the purple shirt? If so, that is hurtful and not entirely untrue.

I completely dismissed the comparison when it became evident that PAC was equating BYU71 with Jerry Seinfeld.

I have no debate with you here. I am and have been expressing my opinion. I hope I have never indicated someone has to feel the same as I do. Somehow I do believe though I can express my opinion as often as I choose and if I take heat for doing so, so be it.

I think I as much as anyone hope I am wrong and we see home schedules like 2013. I would happily take that kind of schedule even 2 our of every 3 years going forward. I don't see it coming, but hope I am wrong.

As far as me being the lone ranger, I will be interested to see ticket sales this year. The people I talk to may be a small minority.

I saw on CB someone say he moved up 21 rows and indicated he hopes those who aren't faithful fans keep dropping so he can keep moving up. I don't see that as being good for the program, but will note we could lose a lot of ticket holders and still have around 50,000 showing up which a lot of schools would love to have.

A reasonable reaction. The photo would have been much better if Darren the Intern (sorry, NMD) were shaking hands with Frank Costanza.

Which one is Seinfeld? If it is the tall guy, then yes equating would be in error.
