Meh. I'm not sure why people really care about a pretty bland t-shirt motto. I can think of other things to whine about:

    - being independent
    - having a senior QB with an injury history who won't take his OC's advice about taking unnecessary hits
    - having essentially no experience at backup QB
    - having no defined tight ends for the 3rd straight year in a row
    - having a depleted O line all need to go on a salad diet
    - having very little D line depth after this season
    - being independent

Does a t-shirt slogan really seem like a big deal now?
"Sure, I fought. I had to fight all my life just to survive. They were all against me. Tried every dirty trick to cut me down, but I beat the bastards and left them in the ditch."

    - Ty Cobb

    • What a bunch of whiners.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

"every day" is game day? good luck making good on that one.
You should tell Vandalay that the shirt is "rad gear." He'll be all over it.

FWIW, I actually liked 'Rise Up'. Not original but a simple if not emphatic call to arms.

          • "Every day is gameday" seems like a perfectly good slogan to me. I already have my game face on, and I'm not even wearing the t-shirt.

Had they ended it with ', dammit!' you might be on to something.

It was originally going to be, "Every Day is Like Gameday. Every Day is silent and grey."

Apparently so did the Salt Lake

A notice dated August 1, 2011, announced the 2012 Mutual theme: “Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations” (Doctrine and Covenants 115:5).

                    • The logo/slogon/motto is especially silly for a program who prides itself on not playing, practicing, or otherwise footballing on Sunday (even though the figurative implications of the slogan are clearly the focus).

That said, I can look past the apparent lameness of the slogan when interpreted literally, but I cannot look past the vivint logo on the back. Sorry, but after I had a vivint salesman try to guilt me into buying a wireless alarm system by telling my I didn't care if my wife and children got raped and/or murdered, I decided not to support them.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Yikes! The salesman said that? Although that is horrible and the only thing you can do about it is not support Vivint. I am sure thats not what they train their Salesman to do. This guy probably just had to come up with a way to pay his healthcare bill.
( FYI I most likely wrote that incoherently and will be properly corrected forthwith. Thanks)

                        • My guess is that it was Nike's idea, not BYU. (Wasn't "Rise Up" a fairly common slogan last year?)

The BYU game day t-shirts seem to be created internally at BYU and sponsored locally. I don't think Nike has anything to do with them. IIRC, they sell for about $5-10.

Bronco: we realize that we are going to have to play on the road (because teams dont want to come to Provo to play a "10 win team").....that is fun for our players to pull up to a stadium and see lots of fans already there tailgating....at BYU I would like fans to be supportive and classy, arrive early, stay late.

                              lame non-responsive answer.
I just wish Bronco would get together with the BYU admin about what he'd like to have in a gameday experience.

It seems like BYU tolerates having some people tailgate rather than encourages many people to tailgate. Big difference.

                              • What makes a great game day experience. Here are my thoughts and not necessarily in order of priority.

                                1) Anticipation and excitement over how good the team is.

                                2) Anticipation and excitement over how good or the reputation level of the
                                opponent.

                                3) Loud up beat music getting folks hyped up.

                                4) Other people around who are excited for the game and not just showing up
like they are attending another church meeting.

I am afraid BYU creating a great game day experience would be like me trying to create a great experience for my grandchilren by having them listen to Frank Sinatra and watching Father Knows Best reruns.
