OK, whatever. It's still an easier win and better for recruiting than playing in Provo, though I'd personally rather have the rivalry game in 2014 and 15.Originally posted by Babs View PostYeah, I'm not seeing it, and I think it reinforces Utah's association with the MWC and WAC instead of with the Pac. In no way, shape or form is playing Tulsa better than playing your rival. Sorry.Originally posted by DU Ute View PostOK, whatever. It's still an easier win and better for recruiting than playing in Provo, though I'd personally rather have the rivalry game in 2014 and 15.
BYU played at Tulsa a few years ago. It really improved their recruiting.

Defending the indefensible seems to be a CUF tradition. Why not Houston or SMU if we are trying for a Texas presence that is with a 2nd tier school? I said I'd rather play BYU, but any advantage Utah gets with in-state recruits from playing BYU is neutralized by BYU receiving the same boost. There is no competitive recruiting advantage from playing BYU, if anything it gives BYU a slight advantage.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostIn no way, shape or form is playing Tulsa better than playing your rival. I'd much rather play those schools. A recruit's family in Dallas would prefer a game in Tulsa over one in Provo.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostDefending the indefensible seems to be a CUF tradition. What is the big damn fuss about? We already knew that Michigan took the spot of BYU so why does anyone care that Tulsa is on the schedule? I could see being pissed if it were someone equal to BYU but Utah is just doing what they said they were going to do.

We don't even know if recruiting is driving this decision. But if it is, it's shortsighted. Tulsa is smack dab between mizzou and A&M, making it SEC country as much as it is Big 12 country. We don't play BYU because we don't want to overextend ourselves in scheduling, but you can make the same mistake in recruiting, too.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostI must admit that I agree.

Kyle has a strong say in scheduling, although the AD signs the contracts. Why would he go along with this? Another problem is that TUlsa is not too bad. An away game against them is not a layup at all, as we found out in 2007.

so if I have this correct, Utah's OOC Football Schedule for the next few years is:
2013
vs. Utah State
@ BYU
vs. Weber State
2014
vs. unnamed Big Sky Team/equivalent
vs. Tulsa
@ Michigan
2015
vs. Utah State
@ Tulsa
vs Michigan
2016
vs. BYU

Tulsa will beat the UofUtah in Tulsa. But at least Sooner's FiL will have a legit reason to come decked out in his UofUtah gear to a football game in Tulsa.
Don't forget to visit ORU while there.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Why would we do that when we are trying so hard to disassociate ourselves from conservative religious schools?Originally posted by myboynoah View PostDon't forget to visit ORU while there.
