It is the ADs job to get your money. BYU has not been a big boy for long enough for you to recognize reality. Now, if the AD/administration is not actively doing what it must do for BYU to be in a position to compete as high a level it can then I think you have a legitimate right to be angry. But to be angry because you are unable to figure out why BYU is not like Texas and then to blame them for you believing them when they tell you they are like Texas strikes me as silly.

You really think I am so stupid I don't know why BYU is not like Texas. Heck, I am not so stupid to not know why BYU isn't like BSU, Utah or TCU. What is really stupid is to ignore the reasons and yet still tell people you are going to be in the mix. I call that misleading advertising, you can call it whatever you want.

BYU can beat enough of those teams and consistently play well enough that it just whets the appetite, but they never quite get over the hump. My honest opinion is the AD realizes the impediments that BYU faces but he can't really allow himself to believe they are impossible to surmount. I don't think it is entirely dishonest if he believes BYU can get there. After all he was on BYU's teams when they got there before and I am not convinced things are as enormously different today than they were in the early 80's. I think the game has changed a bit and BYU doesn't have an elite staff good enough to push BYU over the hump.

Perhaps one day they might surprise you and me.

It worked with Joseph Smith sending Brigham Young to convert Artimus Millet so he could come and build the Kirtland Temple. Maybe David Archeletta's mission call will be to Boise.

Yes and that is why I will pay the dues and buy my tickets. However, my real wrath for being gullible I have turned on myself. I am not forced at gun point or even by religious commandment to keep paying the dues and buying tickets. So if I don't think I am getting my moneys worth, that is MY problem.

Actually since you feel like you aren't getting your money's worth and since I am here and you are here, talking about it, doesn't that make it like our problem, dude?

For the record that is a loose "Fast Times as Ridgemont High" quote and that flick was probably not one ejoyed immensely by your generation.

I actually quite enjoyed it. Ben Stein and Spicoli (sp).

The reason I am here talking about it is because I enjoy the banter. If I thought my opinions would change anything, I would send an e-mail to TH. Heck, the only time I have said anything negative to the CC was after they bumped my seats and "lied" to me as to why they did it. It wasn't even the poor guys fault who lied to me. He was directed to do so by a superior. To lie for the overall good isn't bad is it. I think I am quoting some GA talking about brother Dunn.

I conclude that I don't want BYU to suck again because sometimes I wonder if I am a lone voice that remembers our sucking and how easy it is for teams to suck.
I still bear the emotional scars from watching the pre-Lavell Cougars getting their butts kicked by teams like Western Michigan and UTEP (and I'm talking the crappy UTEP). I regard Bronco's shortcomings and flaws as the equivalent of Cindy Crawford's mole.

                    Then we're screwed.

                      Dear Bronco,

                      Thanks for nothing.

Actually, to the extent Bronco further financially encumbered the BYU AD, thank you. That makes it more likely they won't reject a good conference offer in the future.

Whenever I see a BYU71 post I always think of his eulogy.

BYU71 was an avid BYU fan and donor, except when they had a crappy home schedule and his kids had no interest in going.

BYU71 loved to golf and was a member of the exclusive Oakridge country club. He regularly shot in the 70s until he hit his 60s and then it was the 80s.

BYU71 was divorced from his first wife Kathleen (fictional name to protect the innocent) and never remarried realizing that he was better off keeping his money and watching late night HBO programs.

He is mourned by all and revered by those who still feel compelled to regularly attend Priesthood.
