Maybe I'm an army of one but I do find interest in the Buckeye updates. I grew up in Ohio before moving to Nebraska prior to my teenage years. It was the Woody Hayes era around the time Archie Griffin won back-to-back Heismans. I quickly converted to Cornhusker football and gave patronage to Saint Tom Osborne. Now that Nebraska is in the Big Ten, I have renewed interest in Ohio St. and want to know what to expect on 10/6/12 in the Horseshoe.

Interesting article. One area I found interesting is the discussion of Ohio St. is "To Big to Fail". Is it because of all the donors, alumni, resources that can always ensure a elite coach??

What about the players?? Those who come here vs other places.. Do they come for the coach or for the tradition of the school and team.. I would say it is a little of both.. But looking at the current roster I'd say most of those kids loyalties remained with Ohio St. even after Tressel left.. They bought into the mantra of Ohio St. tradition..

The question is will we have that same kind of devotion and loyalty now that Urban is here? Yes he is getting national recruits that may never have thought about C-Bus until now.. But he is still getting those die-hard buckeyes in state.. I can only hope those not familiar with the traditions here will buy into what Ohio St. is and grow to love it like many others do..

Without reading the article, Ohio St. has too much going for it to fail. Specifically, boosters and fan base to have top facilities. A strong football tradition. History of good HC hires. Quality academics. Good demographics that insure a built in recruiting base without major competition in-state. Off the top of my head, the only programs comparable considering those factors are Texas, Penn St., and possibly Florida (have FSU to contend with). Any successful program will fence off in-state recruiting while going after elite out-of-state recruits. Meyer will be tough to deal with - I don't expect that he will be out-coached and he is a strong recruiter. I was hoping for a post-Tressell slump for OSU much like post-Woody Hayes or post-Barry Switzer at OU. No such luck. The other big dogs in the Big Ten will need to improve and adapt in a hurry.

Here yo go YOhio. I know you have been up at nights worried about this.. As a Buckeye I understand your feelings (Well.. Sort of.. You are a little extreme though)..

Looks like this happened during a "Unofficial Visit" by this kid Alex and his Dad is now backing off of his comments... Says tOSU is still a possibilty but I am not sure Urban or tOSU will hold his schollie now...

Anzalone was upset that his son could have been exposed to such people and questioned the supervision of the visit at a spring game..

But an unofficial visit means Ohio State officials and coaches have very little to do with any itinerary. Over the weekend, Sal Anzalone, in an interview with the Reading (Pa.) Eagle, amended his comments and said he wasn’t blaming coach Urban Meyer or Ohio State.

“We can’t implicate Ohio State for what happened (during that visit),” Sal Anzalone told the Eagle. “That’s wrong. That had nothing to do with the university itself. I don’t hold them accountable; they’re not responsible for what fans do; it’s not their fault.”
