No, what's in the books is what is in question and there are some dubious entries in there. Like 1961 that show Alabama #1 in both the AP and UPI final polls but somehow the Buckeyes claim a NC? Also, there's 1970 where Ohio St. didn't finish #1 in either the AP or UPI final poll. Exactly what book are you referencing to claim NC in 1961 and 1970? And it's not just an opinion either, playing by those rules, Nebraska gets credit for a 1983 NC since they were #1 in every poll until after the bowls. If OSU doesn't need to win a Rose Bowl to claim a NC in 1970, why should Nebraska need to win an Orange Bowl in 1983?

Speaking of conference titles, you don't want to go there because Nebraska has more (43-36) and has the same number as Ohio St. since joining the Big Ten. How about we look at the past 5+ decades of college football before determing whether Nebraska belongs in the same category as Ohio St.?

It does concern me to read that and it reminds me of a scene from Dances with Wolves where Chief Ten Bears holds a Spanish Conquistador helmet and says: "...But I think you are right. I think they will keep on coming. When I think of that, I look at this helmet. I don't know if we are ready for these people. Our country is all that we have, and we will fight to keep it."

Only now, it's a football fan sitting on the prairie while holding a Nebraska helmet wondering if Nebraska is ready for Urban Meyer and Ohio St. or Brady Hoke and Michigan. I don't know if Nebraska is ready but I do know they will fight.

Years ago in the late 1980s and early 1990s, college football declared Nebraska DOA. First, they couldn't overcome some very good Oklahoma teams. When OU tanked, they couldn't deal with a resurgent Colorado. If Nebraska managed to get through their conference, they would have Miami, FSU, or a dominant SEC team waiting to thrash them in a bowl game. Nebraska's coaching staff was over-the-hill, their power-option offense was arcane, and they didn't have the speed to play with the likes of Miami. Nebraska responded by going 60-3 from 1993-97 and winning 3 NCs while defeating highly ranked Miami, Florida, and Tennessee.

So when I read a Buckeye fan thinking Nebraska is done winning national titles, I know better. I'm not just someone living in the 90's. I've looked at Nebraska's favorable 2013 schedule and assess if Nebraska can upset Michigan in the Big House, they have a very good chance at going undefeated into the Big 10 CG where they are most likely to face your Ohio St. Buckeyes. BTW, Ohio St. has the same path - beating Michigan in the Big House. The only difference in their Big Ten schedules is that OSU plays Wisconsin and Indiana while Nebraska plays MSU and Minnesota.

College football is cyclical. Ohio St. of all programs should know this. And don't ever count out Nebraska. Five plus decades of playing quality football do not suddenly vanish.

Spring Practice started for the Buckeyes this week.. 7 new starters on Defense will make it a bit difficult to handle but I think these DL recruits are going to be "rising" stars and will open things up for the Lb's. Hankins will be missed but I like who we have at DL.

Glad Jordan Hall was approved for a medical redshirt from last year and we get one more year with him. He is looking to be the "Percy Harvin" for the Buckeyes.. We'll see..

Does anybody else agree that Urban Meyer is a failure and the Buckeyes are a joke if they don't go undefeated and win a national championship this year? Even if they do it's likely that a dark cloud would hang over the program due to their history of cheating and NCAA violations.
