They could be really good if the following happens:

1.) Michael Alisa is a good D1 RB. As in as good as Curtis Brown was in 2005 or 2006.

2.) One TE steps up to be a go to guy in the middle of the field.

3.) Riley Nelson doesn't get injured and moderately improves both his passing and decision making.

If Jordan Johnson ends up being as good as the rumors, which I remind you are almost always wrong wrt BYU dbs, indicate he is BYU could be special.

This should be the best all around team BYU has had in a good few years - perhaps more.
    1) I loved Curtis Brown as a player, but to be honest, this is very achieveable. Curtis was steady. I don't see why Alisa can't be steady.

    2) I think Marcus Matthews is a prime candidate for this. I also think Richard Wilson is a wild card here. There's no reason one of the TE's won't be able to be this go to guy. My money's on Matthews.

    3) Given what Riley's gone through with the Heaps crap, and the lack of consistent starter reps and preparation, I can't think of another senior BYU QB who has ever had a better chance at moderately improving between his junior and senior year. After being as firmly in the Heaps camp as anyone around here, I have to admit that Riley's completely won me over. I'm looking forward to watching how big of an influence his leadership and drive will have on this offense. I can't think of another BYU QB who's had a better group of talent around him. (Apologies to Kozloswki/Bellini).

I think the defense will be special (according to BYU standards). We've had great DL, great LB's, and decent DB's before - but at the same time? It starts with proven starters and seniors on the DL. I loved Bryan Kehl, but KVN is better. And I'm really liking the DB's.

Haven't we always wanted to see what BYU could do with an above average offense and an above average defense at the same time?
If we disagree on something, it's because you're wrong.

That's because it's all still an "if." We're not heading into a season where we have known or semi-known quantities in the way we did with Beck, Harline, Brown, Pitta, Hall, Collie, Unga, etc., as upperclassmen. So far the only really decent performances we've seen from several o-guys we'll be counting on was against the shits in college football. I feel like I have no real idea what to expect from anyone on offense besides Hoffman.

Yes, ever since 2009, when BYU was 11th in scoring offense and 29th in scoring defense, went 11-2 and finished 12th in the polls.

This is a non-member kid from the other side of the continent who came to BYU when he had another offer. He was a contributing starter and already suffered the embarrassment of being kicked off the team, losing his scholarship, being made to try out as a walk-on, switched from the position where he started to defense. All of this was done publicly.

Seriously, the merciful thing to do was just kick him out so he could play DII somewhere.
What makes you think that wasn't an option for him? And wasn't he kicked out already? No one made him try out as walk on. If he didn't want to be at BYU, he could have transferred. I imagine Bronco said something like "You've got some big issues to address, but if you want another shot at BYU, here's what you'd have to do" and then let OC decided if he wants to do it or not.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Two things I loved about Curtis:

            1. He always got at least 2-3 more yards after someone had an opportunity to tackly him, whether it was making them miss and gaining 5+ or just moving forward after contact.

            2. He NEVER fumbled.

He wasn't supremely talented but he's one of my favorites.

                • I just overheard a guy at the grocery store say that Max Hall is now a student assistant at BYU. Anyone else heard this?

Yes, it's being reported by everyone in the media.

Interesting. Guess I should start paying more attention.

Like I said it is all conjecture on my part, I liked OC and have never been a fan of Bronco so I tend to think the worst of Bronco.

Bronco says KVN will be evaluated on the 14th, anticipates clearance on the 15th. Apo scheduled for one week w/ no contact, then clearance.
