  • Thinking about Barkley...he has examples in the two qbs who preceeded him. Both were projected top 5 picks after their junior years. Sanchez comes out and makes a bunch of money and is a starting qb in the biggest market in the country. Leinart stays one more year, slips in the draft and is just hanging on in the league, needing an injury to be a starter again. I think Barkley would be crazy to stay. You have to grab the opportunity when it's there because there's no guarantee it will be there again.

Those are not the two QBs that preceeded him but Leinart isn't where he is because he stayed another year. He is still making a lot of money. He just didn't translate in the pros. At least not yet. Coming out early or staying another year probably has little correlation to success in the NFL. Might affect some of your cash though.

Agreed, and if anything, Barkley probably makes more in the NFL if he stays. His stock is going to be a lot higher next year when Andrew Luck will be in the NFL.

Who else was in there besides those two?

Besides missing out on a the bigger guaranteed contract of a top 5 pick, Leinart wasn't given as much rope as a top 5 pick would have gotten. Look at Alex Smith...do you think he would have lasted as long in the league as he has if the 49ers hadn't invested a #1 pick and tens of milions in him? Leaving early was absolutely the rtight choice for Smith. And I haven't even mentioned the possibility of injury.

Oh yeah forgot about that guy. One of those rare players that announcers insist on calling by their full name for some reason.

Is the PAC worse in football or basketball? Meh, who cares - in either sport that conference is an embarrassment.
You don't get it. Top to bottom it is the best football conference in the land. Look, Colorado beat a great Utah team. This conference rivals the SEC. Multiple top ten teams (and another that should be).

The best, top to bottom. That is why their division champ doesn't have a winning record.

You do realize that the Pac has 3 top 10 teams right?

Small other detail: all 3 of which have been in national title discussions (albeit one is ineligible).

The best team in that division is one of the 10 best in the country. Just think, Colorado would be 8-3 if they'd played BYU's schedule, maybe even 9-2 since they managed to beat Utah

                        • NCAA approves UCLA's waiver petition and will allow the Bruins to play in a bowl if they lose to Oregon.

I guess they ask Weasel to hold on for one more game.

What was the basis of the waiver petition?

They will be 6-7 after losing in the championship game.

I realize that but why should they be given an exception?
