Believe it or not, statements that a witness reacts to are better than questions. If they eventually draw the objection that they are not questions, you can always add "right?"
Doccoug and Hottie were practically another generation in our family, but our dad taught me and #2 in our family to never make statements, and always ask questions.
I know it is a very different situation, but this got me thinking- If a player, coach, grad-asst or even media member walked in on a coach or a player in the shower with an overly-intoxicated 16YO girl in the shower at a major university what are the odds it would be reported? I'm guessing very, very low, as well.
I think this is an important thing to be considered. We all know that there is a ton of money running through football and that most big programs are "dirty" in some fashion. But up until now I think it has been easy to think that dirty amounts mostly to running afoul of the NCAA, and organization that has little legitimacy with most fans unless it is beating up on a program they don't like.
But this, to me, is another data point on the graph that charts "the bad things that can happen when enough money is at stake."
Exactly, I basically just assume that every successful program is cheating by paying players or giving improper benefits. I don't think it is right, but it is a corrupt industry. However, this is at an entirely different level. While we don't have all the facts and perhaps it isn't as bad as it looks, but this looks awful. This looks like keeping silent anal rape of a child for the sake of the football program and the money it brings in. Other kids were likely abused because of the silence. There were at best extremely poor decisions at multiple levels of the administration and at worst a cover up to protect the program.

We live in a yucky world sometimes...
Disagree. There was an incident not too long ago at a major university where an assistant football coach was forced to resign becasue of relations with college students (i.e. adults > 16 YO girls). I think most athletic departments have rules when it comes to faculty/coaching staff relations with the student body and would certainly have rules against relationships with 16 YO HS girls.
Something similar happened in my high school but the parties involved were both consenting adults - the baseball coach and the Home Ec teacher. A HS student/player witnessed/walked into a shower situation. It may not have been fair, but the guy was no longer allowed to coach and the gal was no longer allowed to be part of student extracurricular activities. Both kept their teaching jobs; both went through divorces.

Wow. Are you from Dallas? This happened at my buddy's HS.
This was obvious from a mile away. Another good step in the right direction.
However, it does seem to underscore the underlying elephant in the room....the Prez is likely to be fired tomorrow. But Joe Pa has Nebraska, Ohio State, etc on the docket, so let him stay until the season is over.
