Let me see if I have this right. So you're telling me that BYU plays better against poor teams and worse against good teams?

You don't see the difference between playing worse against good teams, and playing BAD against good teams.

Aaron Rodgers plays worse against good teams than he does against bad teams, but he does not play BAD against good teams.

Riley Nelson is not a good QB, you can think Heaps sucks and he might very well suck, but that doesn't change the fact that Riley Nelson can and likely does suck as well. I have a hard time with the decision to mortgage your program's future because you think one sucky QB marginally sucks worse than the other.

If you have two choices of sucky QBs go with the underclassmen who has shown that he has the physical tools to figure it out at some point and had some pretty darn good success with your predecessor OC.

KVN was playing at a level that few men ever grace. He is unbelievable. No Heaps, No KVN. For that we all should pay homage to the great Jake Heaps.

Which is why like Woot said, I believe are coaching staff has made personnel and development errors. We have Riley and no capable backup on the roster currently. Going into 2013 we have little depth at QB and nobody who has thrown a pass in a college game.

I think I will let this slide without a punch to the nards. It is inconclusive whether or not you were saying something negative towards the person responsible for guiding Mr. Van Noy to BYU.

As a Texas fan you should know this is not unique to BYU.

It's not satisfied because this team is headed nowhere. Going into the season we thought we were about to watch a team take its first step toward something potentially pretty great. Instead this season feels like a huge step backward despite the number of wins, and more like the ending of something (my hopes for a great season in the future) rather than beginning. We are now stuck with a QB who can't take us anywhere next season, and a massive transition in '13 that won't result in anything other than mediocrity -- and these are the two years we thought we were setting up for this year.

Great for Riley to pull this thing out, but he was awful today -- and again, as has been the case often this season, I thought he was actually worse than his numbers indicated. I swear I have never seen a kid get away with more than he does. The should-be picks (he should have had 3 in his first ten throws), the 500 balls, the absolutely bone-headed decisions, etc., just all seem to bounce his way. But maybe I'm just the dummy here because it seems to keep happening. At any rate, I'm still fairly convinced that he just doesn't have the skill/ability to lead this team to anything of note.

Yeah, those were heady days, after the NM Bowl we were all over Heaps being the answer, but despite our positive expectations, the team seemingly floundered and Jake sucked it up big time. Heaps is gone; he chose to leave.

After this bowl game it appears the prevailing view is that we are going to suck it up next year with little hope for anything special. Hmmmm, I'm liking our chances.

Riley ain't pretty, but he wins. He has as over abundance of "it" and limited arm strength to match. But this is our horse, it's a pretty good horse, and I'm looking forward to next year.
