Neuheisel is an alum, and despite his program tanking, he no doubt has some serious allies on a personal level at UCLA (boosters and such). He's not getting fired mid-season.

However, for the Michigan State/Nebraska game on 10/29, they say they are going to wait until after this weekend's games to set the kickoff. The game will either be at noon eastern on ESPN or at 3:30 Eastern on ESPN/ABC. I am assuming they are doing this to put the most intriguing matchup at the best time. So what is considered a better slot: noon Eastern national on ESPN, or 3:30 Eastern split regional ABC/ESPN?

I ask because my Branch President offered my wife and I tickets to the game, but we can only attend if they go with the noon kickoff. I want to know if I should be cheering for Michigan State to win or lose this Saturday.

Omaha, you want MSU to lose, because 3:30pm is a much more prestigious time slot.
Why not go for the daily double and hope Michigan St. loses to Wisconsin AND Nebraska loses to Minnesota?

Just so I understand, you have access to tickets to a home Nebraska game against a worthy opponent...and you can't attend a later kickoff??? Was there a death in the family (and my condolences if that is the case) because a funeral is the only excuse that comes to mind for missing a chance to see the Cornhuskers play on the gridiron of Tom Osborne field in the hallowed abode of Memorial Stadium.

I'm sorry, as a fellow Husker fan, I'm going to have to ask that you hand over your Nebraska Cornhusker Football Recommend. This is a grave transgression in the eyes of Saint Bob Devaney and Pope Tom Osborne. My soul is aggrieved on your behalf.

His wife is scheduled for a c-section at 4:30 that day, you jerk!

Change the date. If he was a true football fan he wouldn't have let her schedule that on a Saturday.

Just so I understand, this is a scheduled c-section not an emergency one? And on a Saturday? Anyone who grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska knows that hospitals along with all services shut down on game days. We leave our dead in the streets and let our buildings burn to the ground while the Cornhuskers play.

                You've got me there.

Or, perhaps they could change the location? How about a procedure in the tunnel of the stadium? How many kids could say they were born AT a Nebraska football game?

Thanks. I guess I knew 3:30 was bigger, but the Michigan/MSU game being at noon on ESPN last Saturday was throwing me off.

It's irrelevant anyway because he emailed me today and told me that he's going to have to give the tickets to his son. But he felt bad so he offered us tickets to the Iowa game instead. That's a hotter ticket and we have no potential schedule conflicts so that was fine with me.

Before I get my fan card revoked, let me splain a bit. The seats are my Branch President's. We have a branch trunk or treat activity that evening which the YW are in charge of and my wife happens to be YW president. I serve with him in the Branch Presidency, so he kind of depends on me to go to these things, too. Now, if the tickets were from any other person, we would be making the necessary arrangements for people to cover for us and missing the activity. But the ticket offer was kind of congingent on the game not conflicting with the activity. Being he and his wife are planning on giving up their seats to attend the activity, I didn't feel comfortable saying "well that's too bad you have to miss it for the activity, but we certainly don't, so can we still have the other two seats?" (not that the request didn't cross my mind briefly).

But as I said above it all worked out for the best. We get to go to Nebraska's first real Thanksgiving rivalry game since the mid-90s so I'm pumped. Oh, and I would never schedule a c-section during a game. That would be silly.
