Not a lot of info on the Bengals out there. I was able to track down a pic of the mascot, Benny the bengal. He is looking a little thick in the w.a.i.s.t. for a college mascot.

ISU students look really young. No wonder they are getting crushed in Football.

Here is what I know about ISU:
          • Pokey is the armpit-hole of SE Idaho, perhaps of the entire Gem State;
          • The arena's nickname is the "largest potato cellar in the world;" and
          • Once when my brother was a senior in high school, our family was at a restaurant in Idaho Falls. My brother was wearing a shirt with the HS colors, orange and black. The waitress asked if he was an ISU student. We all laughed and he said no.

I don't know about the seating but most indoor tracks are 200 meters. The Holt track is different in that it's made of wood and is banked. I ran a 400 meter race with the first lap being on the outside lane and it's scary flying around the turn knowing that there is a 10 foot drop if I misstep too much or veer to the right.

The track was setup each year in the middle of the field with plenty of room without moving the seats. I assume they store it somewhere and only bring it out for a couple meets a year.

I doubt they play for ISU. I think Benny was just trying to round up people to go watch the game.

They should have refreshments after the game...

Yeah, yeah ... to "go watch the game." I'm pretty sure that is Benny's van parked right next to the kids' playground. Spoken like someone who has experience coaxing small children into "watching the game," DDD.

So - at the risk of talking too much about football before Friday in the case of this game...

We hear that ISU throws the ball a lot. How good is their QB? How about their OL?

Yes - I know this is ISU we're talking about.

But with BYU's tendency to rely on the 3 DL's to provide all of the pressure - especially on 3rd and long - I always get a little nervous about BYU dropping everyone back into zone and giving the QB as much time as he wants to decide who to throw to. I think BYU tends to leave holes in their zone that can be exploited. Though this probably isn't the team to do that.

I'm also hoping that this might be one game during which BYU's DL can get enough push to put some pressure on without any help. Weber St. did have 8 sacks Saturday, so my hope shouldn't be in vain.

                      Any actual game thoughts?

Does BYU use this game as a bye week - and just run it, run it, run it to make the clock move and win?

Or do they use it as a learning experience for Doman and Riley by letting Doman mix things up, having Riley continue working on making reads at game spead, and giving any WR/TE not named Hoffman added experience making a catch during the game?

If you want to talk football, here it is: this might be the week to try out some plays by TheGreenRake.

Truly there is nothing to talk about here. This game will be over in the first quarter. At that point, I guess it could be fun for Bronco to call the offense and let Doman call the D.

For some reason, I thought Idaho St. was one of WAC teams that BYU was playing because the WAC was nice to us. I guess I got them mixed up with Idaho, even though I knew BYU was playing both of them. Really, I just knew they were both awful.

I guess that is another way of saying that it's pretty awful to voluntarily schedule a team from the bottom of the freaking Big Sky Conference. Scheduling as an independent is even worse than I thought.

If I though Bronco would take this week to start TCU prep I wouldn't mind too much.
