i'd bet we see a lot of blitzes from the secondary early and an aggressive defensive scheme.

That's a valid concern about Polk vs Utah's front 7. Based on the Washington-Nebraska game, I was surprised at the way the Huskies were able to run on the Cornhuskers. Nebraska has decent LBs (all returning starters and a pre-season AA). I think Utah may have a better D-line than Nebraska but the Huskers still have an AA DT and are solid. Most of Polk yards (22-130; 1 TD) against Nebraska were between the tackles - and he got a lot of yards after contact. If Utah has to crowd the box, Washington's QB - Price is very accurate and makes good decisions. Price is very moblie in the pocket and buys himself time - he's difficult to sack even on a blitz. The Huskie receiving corp is also solid.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostA match-up that concerns me this week is Chris Polk vs our linebacking crew. Martinez and Walker are either both smaller or the same size as polk and lack his speed and power. The d line has to have the best game of the year so far so that Marinez and Walker aren't left one on one with Polk. IMO they will lose that battle 7 out of 10 times.
Overall, I was impressed by the Huskies. Having already played in Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, I don't think Washington will be phased by playing in Rice Eccles. On the opposite side, I think Utah's offense matches up well against Washington's defense. That's why I think it will be a close, high scoring game.

Also, Price is just a puppie (he was not a thoroughbred like Heaps; I wonder if WA would trade). They need to get inside his head, etc.Originally posted by camleish View Postpolk is good and had a good game against nebraska, but i'd be surprised if the utah dl has trouble with him.

How many snaps did Martinez see against BYU? Seems like Reilly and Anderson saw the field as much as he did. And sure, Walker isn't exactly pretty to watch, but he's a good football player. And it seems like he plays the run well. Pass coverage is a different story.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostA match-up that concerns me this week is Chris Polk vs our linebacking crew. I do too. Good trolls don't flail like that.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostI'm disappointed in this trolling attempt. Ever since the Utes were invited to join the PAC12, it seems your game has gone downhill and that makes me sad. I miss the old junkie.

my middle son doesn't care for the utes and it breaks my heart. i have empathy for your situation. my youngest likes the utes, but says he's a boise state fan first and foremost because they beat utah in the vegas bowl last year. all i have is my oldest, who loves the utes. he's clearly my favorite.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostWe have discussed this. that being said, i hope to see john white get some help on the run game this week. i think that he is going to need a power-runner to compliment him and also to wear down the Washington DLine. it would be nice to see Langi have a break out game this week.
As for Wynn, he needs more zip on his balls to avoid turning it over. our receivers are solid and will be able to shake defenders loose, so if wynn gets the ball going faster and farther, we could open this game up with passing.
the biggest battle is going to be for control on the lines. if our OLine holds and gives Wynn time, and if our DLine gets pressure on the QB, we win. Our LBers also need to be able to stop scrambles from becoming huge plays.
polk scares me. he is as good as Tyler in the USC game. i think we can hold him to under 100 yards, and i think our DBs will be able to keep their receivers in check. this is going to be a very entertaining game.

Doubtful. That would be confusing and would undo all of the careful nurturing he has done thus far.
EDIT: Never mind. Game is in Utah and no TV in the SU household. Crisis averted for one year.
