I'm always shocked by the number Ute fans that watch BYU games and vice-versa. Personally, I've never understood why each fanbase would have enough interest in the other team to sit down and watch a full game. But I'm curious what motivates this, so for those of you who find yourself in that category, what would you list as the reason?

For me the Michigan game was delayed so I flipped it over. The other game on had no interest for me.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI'm always shocked by the number Ute fans that watch BYU games and vice-versa. So watching a BYU game is not a routine thing you do? Just sort of a process of elimination according to what's being televised? What was the other game?Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostFor me the Michigan game was delayed so I flipped it over. I actually watch most of our opponents games. Just to get a flavor of the team before we play them.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostI have a couple potential responses in mind, and this was definitely one of them.
Another reason I like to watch Utah is to see recruits we lost, er, didn't want."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Yes, well, I didn't want to seem fanatical. I want to see all the other title contenders, but I'll watch pretty much anything else, too.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThis is true. I used to watch most of the MWC games. But like HFN said, football is football and I'll watch pretty much any game on.

I have a hierarchy of games I want to watch, that goes something like this:
BYU Games
Second Tier Liked Teams (UNC, Michigan)
Conference Games (No longer Relevant)
BYU's Opponents
Top 25 Games
Games with teams I know something about
Utah usually fits a few of those categories, so I catch them when I can. I don't plan my days around anyone but BYU.

This was another response I was anticipating and it make sense if nothing else is on. I guess my thought here, though, is that on a given saturday (I realize Utah played on Thurs this week and BYU will have some Fri games and there's not a ton of action those nights) how often is just BYU/Utah the only game on? It still seems like Ute/Coug fans will plan to watch each other despite the other games.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI will watch any college football game. I don't care who is playing.
Maybe this is just a thing most rivals do to keep tabs on each other and there's nothing really to be read there. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
