Now both the team names and the scores are reasonable.

One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

Out of curiosity, why so many so confident BYU scores so many points? I am not sure I share your confidence so early. I see BYU moving the ball more than Ole Miss and scoring more, but missed field goals (Sorenson hasn't been the most accurate) and a few untimely turnovers keeps it closer. Ole Miss will play it real conservative and play 3 yards and a cloud of dust as long as their defense/BYU mistakes keep the game close with a hope of winning it in the end. I forsee a late BYU TD or FG putting it out of reach and then perhaps Ole Miss putting in a late TD to make it respectable.

I think BYU's offense will be good this year but I forsee it stumbling a bit out the gate like the 2006 squad. Still too much youth in both players and staff for me to share your irrational exuberance and frenzied mindness!

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I was being polite. And I recognize that Ole Miss put up season highs against LSU, Auburn, and put up a (relatively) ton of points against a very stout Arkansas defense. I also think Ole Miss was tougher than last year's 4-8 record. I should probably change my prediction to 38-10 for Ole Mess, but will leave it as it stands. I don't want to pull the string too far.

I predict BYU scores 3 TDs and a FG. I don't think that is unreasonable. I agree that they will probably start a little slow and build as the season goes on. I give them a little extra pop (one more TD than you) due to the extra game prep for this game. You mght say that Ole Miss has that same game prep and I would agree except they are continuing to lose players on both sides of the ball faster than (insert Goatnapper metaphor).

The implied score from the betting line is about 29-26. There is an optimism bias in the predictions, but controlling for that it is clear most BYU fans believe in a within transaction costs EMH.

I'm just making predictions based on what I'd like to see for now. I'll change my official prediction to match Parrot Head's once he makes his guess.
