I'm not aware of any of these people claiming to not care about their rival. In fact, I think Hot Lunch has been very open with his hatred of his team's rival and his desire for them to fail miserably. He is a good man that way.

Well you see, at the U most folks are what we in the tribe call "past feeling" which means that firesides and other methods of spiritual motivation won't work. The best motivator for heathen is 1) anger, and 2) fear of embarrassment. Being as I am an ALUF, who still is capable of experiencing spiritual rapture, but all the same understanding that the squad of footballers I support is not, I am OK with Old Testament forms of motivation for them. I concede though, that it's not ideal.
