"I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"

I wonder what made them finally pull the trigger. They had until July 1 before they faced any financial penalties from leaving the MWC. Did they get some reassurance about the BigEast's survivability? Did they find a home for their other sports? Were they just tired of waiting around?

Better yet, I read there was a weekend of big east meetings and they wanted to decide before the meetings so they didn't waste time with the trip. Seriously..
"Don't expect I'll see you 'till after the race"
"So where does the power come from to see the race to its end...from within"
This is my guess, but I think BYU has read the writing on the wall and is going to the Beast with BSU.
No thanks. They would be joining a league that is about to lose Louisville, Cincy, UConn and Rutgers. Would be shortsighted and dumb. Stick with Indy for now. At least it sets us apart somewhat.

I agree. But BYU has the strategic thinking of a goldfish.
If the Delaney plan happens, BYU without a conference will essentially be an exhibition team that never plays for anything of consequence.

The Delany Plan will be the choice for the new four-team playoff. Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany and Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott favor a playoff that emphasizes conference champions. SEC commissioner Mike Slive wants the best four teams, and it is believed that the Big 12 will go along with the SEC in that argument.
But to keep the process open to all—at least, on the surface—the playoff must use the Delany Plan: Conference champions within the top five or six of the rankings are eligible for the new playoff. A best-four teams playoff all but eliminates anyone outside the Big Four conferences and invites anti-trust lawsuits.

2 billion over how many years? How much of a cut do the basketball only schools get vs. the football only schools?
My guess, when all is said and done, they will have an NBC/Comcast deal that will net a football only school 6-7 mill... My guess is that Indy will pay better than that.
