I think you guys will enjoy fostering a rivalry with Washington State. It's about right: each university is the piddly-assed second choice university of their respective statesOriginally posted by SeattleUte View PostI am an optimist almost to a fault. I want the Buffs to be a worthy Ute rival.

Wrong. A lot of people including myself could have gone to BYU--some of us actually were admitted--but instead went to Utah because they oppose anti-intellecualism, racism, fruadulent faux academic research, the Honor Code, for starters. BYU lacks respect in academic circles which is the only reason it's not in the Pac 12.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I thought this was the new rivalry thread. This isn't new. Seems pretty much like all the old rivalry threads.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostWrong. I'm tempted to change the thread title.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm tempted to change the thread title.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Yes, but if you ever need someone who, having given their word, will die before exiting that academic circle you'll change your tune.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostWrong. This thread was about Utah and Colorado until indignant BYU fans started shitting on Utah. Come to think about it, that's 80% of the Ute-centric threads here.Originally posted by jay santos View PostOsu,wsu, and utah could get a thing going. The bitter little brother stuck in the shadow. You have a lot to learn young jedi. This thread was about byu from the beginning. Read the first post again. Then read su's other posts.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostThis thread was about Utah and Colorado until indignant BYU fans started shitting on Utah. Oh, no, not so. SU said this in his first post:Originally posted by jay santos View PostYou have a lot to learn young jedi. This thread was about byu from the beginning. Read the first post again. Then read su's other posts.
Seven of the next nine posts were from BYU fans, knocking the U. (The two Ute posts were joking posts from IPU. SU was nowhere to be found.) The count so far is 23 BYU fan defecatory posts out of 37 total. The Ute fan posts are mostly jokes about the BYU fan posts. You guys are all big fat meanies.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI anticipate this thread will have a long and robust life, though the start may be slow.
I am looking forward to our new rivalry with Colorado and embrace the Buffs heartily. Utah-Colorado always seemed to me like it should be a natural fierce rivalry. Rivalries are a hallmark of the Pac 12, and I'm sure it won't take too long before we'll be like Oregon-Washington.
I am looking forward to trading smack with some Buffs here. I know the Buff program will recover from its near death experience and return to national prominence soon.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

This thread is interesting. Speaking from experience (I've been to 4 or 5 CU/KU games in Boulder), I cannot imagine anyone having a 'fierce' rivalry w/ the Buffs. Generally, if you beat em like a drum, the conversation becomes derogatory toward your local brand of weed, "K-pot sucks. No cannabis and all weed. And, you're still in Kansas." If they beat you like a drum, the conversation returns to derogatory, "K-pot sucks. No cannabis and all weed. You suck AND you're still in Kansas." After a while, you kinda just tune it all out and grab another beer outta the icy tank at the Millenium Hotel and enjoy Boulder Creek on the way up to Folsom Field. Expect a heavy dose of polygamy jokes and whatever form of cannabis dominates in SLC.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post.

.
The Buffs are way more interested w/ their rivalry w/ Cal Berkley than w/ the Utes.
