If true, that's great.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostGood grief. They don't care about that. The only people who care about that kind of BS are BYU's owners and adminstrators. He's been dean of GW law and a professor at Harvard.Jesus wants me for a sunbeam.

It's something that Utes like to believe so I don't blame you. You guys should stick to the Prophet went to the U shtick.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostLOL. I should have done my research before posting. Ray Olpin and David Gardner were both BYU grads. By my quickie research, that's Utah 3, BYU 2."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

He's been a stake president, FYI, and taught gospel doctrine in my son's ward a couple of years back. I'm not sure about his activity now.Originally posted by RedSox View PostWill UW hire a Mormon?
I've heard he's not too terribly into Church, but his resume is saturated with religion and Republican politics, isn't it?“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

When Young announced his divorce, there was a guy on CB who claimed that he MY had all but left the church, but whatever (sort of like depending on Twitter as a news source).Originally posted by LA Ute View PostHe's been a stake president, FYI, and taught gospel doctrine in my son's ward a couple of years back. Wasn't it someone on here that "caught" Young enjoying a nice red wine with dinner last year? lolOriginally posted by LA Ute View PostHe's been a stake president, FYI, and taught gospel doctrine in my son's ward a couple of years back. This kind of immaturity is a good reason for him to go to UW. The state of Utah is in some respects very infantile.

I know him and his ex-wife and to me the situation is pretty sad.Originally posted by falafel View PostWasn't it someone on here that "caught" Young enjoying a nice red wine with dinner last year? lol“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

I'm surprised that none of the Utah fans here are trying to steer SuperDeluxe away from Young.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I think it'll be a sad day if Young leaves the U.
There are rumors that Huntsman and Young have had a falling out and that Huntsman has basically said he refuses to donate any more money to the school unless Young resigns.
Apparently, Young and Huntsman are at odds because of Young's lifestyle choices.
If true, it's disturbing. Young has been a great president for the U. It seems that as long as he is obeying the law and is excelling at his job, then his position should't be at risk because he has divorced and may not be living a lily-white LDS lifestyle.
It's sickening to think he'd get pushed out because he no longer believes and/or lives all the LDS teachings.
Meh. I'll be sad to see him go.
Maybe they can hire an area authority to take his place. Someone that is squeeky clean and totally LDS and, yet, less effective. That would be super.

Like SuperDeluxe has a say.Originally posted by falafel View PostI'm surprised that none of the Utah fans here are trying to steer SuperDeluxe away from Young.
Anyway, I think you and one or two othes in this thread, with your small minded, parochial, classic BYU Rodin hating ignorance have shown that Young is probably better off at UW; it would also be a step up in his career up by any measure. Those of us who care about him, and there are many, probably realize this would be a great move for him personally and professionally. Professionally, he never has had much connection with the state anyway, until he came to Utah. Why should he remain in a place populated by stupidity such as you spew in this thread when he can be in a place where peoople couldn't care less, are 100% indifferent about his religion or status vis-a-vis his religion?
Utah has also never had a problem hiring fabulous presidents. It's never had anything but great ones clear back to James Fletcher. They all tend eventually to gain national prominence. Utah always hires genuine academic titans without regard to their relgion or taste for wine. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
