Really? That surprises me. Not so much he is lazy (I have no knowledge of his work ethic, one way or the other), but it would take so long to get in shape. He is 19YO with a sprinter's physique. At that age, I had a terrible diet, sat through class all day long, hated to run, and had nowhere near the god-given athleticism Cody does. Yet, merely by playing pickup ball in the evening and skiing during the day, I felt like I was in good enough shape to do most of what Hoff is being asked to.

Edit: FTR, I'm a big CH fan, regardless of his alleged laziness or not.

I am a big Hoff fan as well. I just wish he were a bit more dedicated in the offseason. He could have helped Jake in the first two games.

Because Heaps would much rather throw to Apo than Hoff. And truthfully, it doesn't appear that Hoff will lay out for a Heaps pass.

There may be some truth to Katy's claim. Jake's wife still isn't pregnant (to my knowledge) but undoubtedly he has tried to make several passes at her.

Edit: KL, got her post changed, before it showed up as edited.

Also, you cannot pass the ball to yourself, so Jake is wise to not attempt to catch one of his own passes.

Hoff went home over the summer and basically did nothing. When he came in to camp they had conditioning drills and Hoff was finishing 20 seconds behind what was expected of the lineman. He did nothing all summer and it took him the better part of first few games to get in to shape.

The Heaps think is complete bunk it is nothing but coincidence that he started getting in to the shape about the time Riley started playing. Look at this last game Heaps was looking for Hoffman all game long.

That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.

I am glad to hear that Heaps wasn't just ignoring him in favor of Apo. This also explains why Hoffman could never get open the first few games of the season

It's also why Falslev started the season on kickoffs. He didn't get replaced until his miscue against Utah and the coaches thought Hoff could handle KO and WR duties.

Did I hear right during the broadcast that Falslev is not on scholarship? Ouch.

Right now he's got a solid shot at 1,000 receiving yards. He's big, uses his body well, and always goes up and gets the ball at its highest point (something Apo needs to desperately learn). He's also caught a ton of balls this year that he had no business coming up with and has shown some pretty solid bursts of speed and ability to make a guy or two miss in the open field. I've been pretty impressed.
He's gotten much better at reeling them in and has been really impressive at boxing out/maneuvring defenders away from the ball then leaping out to snag it himself. I can't speak for his route running, but he's a real highlight from this otherwise pretty blah year.
I think, perhaps, the only person who hates BYU fans more than ute fans hate BYU fans, is Bronco Mendenhall.

I read where he reported grossly out of shape. At first I did not buy it, but watching the difference in play as the season progressed I do.

I think that Apo and Alisa will both improve a Heaps next year, yes pun intended!

IMO Apo is just going through the motions this year. I told Junkie this earlier today. The kid has all the talent in the world yet, he seems distracted and disinterested the majority of the time.
