Drew has an awesome article about rich this morning. I'd post it here but my computer is down. He has some quote about "I couldn't be happier to be a cougar and will be until the day I die." Seriously made me want to cry.

What do you think Rich's chances are like to play in the NFL? If nothing else I could see the guy being a special teams monster.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostDrew has an awesome article about rich this morning. There's not really any chance he gets drafted because of his size and speed. If he gets his shot, I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a roster somewhere.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostWhat do you think Rich's chances are like to play in the NFL? In the article he says his nfl chances look slim because of his speed. I get that he's not very fast for a safety, but he's got a big frame and I don't see why he couldn't shift to lb'er. Nobody seems to talk about that so maybe he just can't play the lb'er spot. I don't know.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostWhat do you think Rich's chances are like to play in the NFL? I think he would be a great fit if he ends up at LB somewhere that plays a Tampa 2 scheme.Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostIn the article he says his nfl chances look slim because of his speed. Another case of a player who was there longer and had paid his dues playing ahead of the better player. I have heard Rich wasn't happy, but to his credit he hung in there and showed to be a heck of a leader.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostRich was an absolute beast throughout his career to bad he lost his whole sophomore year to Kellen Fowler.
He finishes the 2010 season with 111 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 5 ints, 13 pass break ups, and 3 forced fumbles.
I do hope the culture of entitlement has ended.

He will always make this think of this great line from Goat following the victory over Oklahoma.

(Interestingly, in trying to find this post more easily through search, I was amused to learn that searching Goat's posts for the words "rich" and "nipples" yields an astonishing 21 results.)I have nothing else to say at this time.

I'd love to see him make a roster. It's amazing how easy it was this season to recognize Rich. If the guy with the ball got freight-trained, it was Rich. If not, it wasn't. He's got a rare combination of ferocity and coverage ability. I have to think he could play special teams at the very least, but his lack of top-end speed might not allow it. he's got to be in the 4.6 range right? That wouldn't be bad at all if he can maintain it while putting on 10-20 pounds in the next few months.

At 6'3" and 220ish if he can add 10-15 more pounds he can play in a scheme like the Tampa 2 at OLB. Derrick Brooks played at 235 and was about the prototypical player at that position for years.Originally posted by RedSox View PostHe seems awfully small for LB to me.
Don't take that as me saying that he is the next Derrick Brooks because he isn't. But size wise with a little more frame, I think he could transition to an OLB in the right scheme. He is way too small IMO to play in the middle though.

So Rich was listed at 4.65, 6'3" 218 for last year's draft, and the top two SS prospects for the upcoming draft are both in the 6'0-1" 205, 4.55 range. Rich compares pretty well. It still seems like his best bet would be to get up to 230+ and play OLB, but he's closer to ideal than I expected.
