In 2012-13, Utah will receive approximately $10.5 million from the P12 TV deal (50% of their share). That is $4 million more than the entirety of the share Utah received from the MWC TV deal that began in 2006, with near-infinitely better exposure.
In 2011-12, Utah will receive $2.2 million from the creation of the P12 title game alone, almost double what their yearly share was in the MWC.
I'm guessing the math for BYU is equally glowing going forward (and equally galling in reflection)."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

Yeah, I'm sure BYU's going to be pulling down 21 million plus each year (not to mention whatever revenues pour in for the PAC12 Network).Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostIn 2012-13, Utah will receive approximately $10.5 million from the P12 TV deal (50% of their share). I think he meant the numbers in comparison to MWC money will be equally glowing, not that they would be the same.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostYeah, I'm sure BYU's going to be pulling down 21 million plus each year (not to mention whatever revenues pour in for the PAC12 Network).
Of course as an Independent and a Private institution, we'll probably never hear BYU's numbers. So yeah, why not say $21 million.

Yeah, BYU has unlimited funds upon which to draw. BYU's financial structure probably differs significantly from those of public institutions.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostPlus another $21M in church funds.Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

My original post doesn't factor in what Utah will receive when they are full phased in to the P12 TV revenue. It only factors in what they'll receive over the next two years, which will be less than the (estimated) $16 million BYU will receive in that same timespan.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostYeah, I'm sure BYU's going to be pulling down 21 million plus each year (not to mention whatever revenues pour in for the PAC12 Network).

You believe BYU is going to get 16 million over that timespan?Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostMy original post doesn't factor in what Utah will receive when they are full phased in to the P12 TV revenue. Realistically, the money is only an issue for Utah. Not as big of a deal for BYU.Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostI am just waiting for Utah to get a 3D HD Truck with all the freaking money they are about to make in order to be one upper in the truck catagory.
I would say, finally, Utah will have the monetary resources that BYU has had at it's disposal for a few decades. For the first time, maybe ever in our lifetimes, Utah will be on an equal footing financially with BYU.
BYU's TV deal could be worth $5.00 and it really wouldn't matter. The key for BYU is exposure, not money. They've got the money part covered in spades.
Utah had to get both. And they did.
Essentially, both schools got exactly what they needed out of their new situations.
I don't foresee BYU ever being short on cash. If they get into an arms race with anyone, they *could* win, it would just be a matter of committing and diverting resources.
I still believe Utah is in the better situation and there have been a number of BYU fans here that have expressed similar sentiment.
However, again, I think both schools are getting what they needed out of their new situations.

I think most people are forgetting all the tithing money BYU gets in addition to TV money.
I figure from ALUF's alone, BYU is getting 8 million a year in tithing. We need to add that to our 6-8 mill from ESPN in order to make it a realistic figure. In other words, BYU wins!

Is Utah required to pay tithing money on their huge freaking T.V. deal that was just inked?Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostI think most people are forgetting all the tithing money BYU gets in addition to TV money.
