Heaps is exceeding expectations. Great poise for a freshman in this game. He's played better than Max Hall did in last year's game.

On a catch like that you have to maintain possession to the ground. If he had caught it "made a football move" and then hit with the ground causing a fumble I'd agree.

That's how I saw it, too. I thought we should have been right in the red zone after that one.

I think BYU's playcalling is a little too conservative. Especially on third down. It is a shame to have the defense play that well and only be up six points.

I think BYU's playcalling is a little too conservative. Especially on third down. It is a shame to have the defense play that well and only be up six points.

I don't mind the conservative play calling. In fact I think this gameplan is brilliant. They brought the use every second of the play clock against SDSU to RES. What I don't like is that stupid hand off out of the spread like Juice ran on that last 3rd and short. Just line up in I formation and let Mendenhall lead Kariya or Juice for that yard.

A long, run-dominated drive with some play action thrown in would be nice here, but I worry about being too conservative. Anae needs to keep the defense honest and keep the middle of the field on the menu.
