I swear the enrollment at Denver has got to be under 12,000. I noticed Texas State and Texas-San Antonio (who doesn't even field a football team now) are also on slate to join. Whatever happened to one of the Montana schools joining. At this point you would think they would be the most competitive.

Wow, I wonder if they will bring back football? Maybe the Aggies (both the USU and NM St variety) would have someone to beat up on.

Total enrollment is around 10,000, about half graduate and half undergrad. They will give a boost to the WAC in hockey and lacrosse.

Montana can't decide if they want to make the move to FBS or not. If they do, the WAC will add them immediately. Last I heard from people who usually know, Montana was very close to closing the deal and making the jump.

Says Denver is joining in every sport but football. Ideally the WAC would like Montana as well. So that they will have 9 football schools and 10 basketball schools. I am sure glad BYU did not still stick with the WAC after Fresno and Nevada left. What an atrocious conference.

Ironically, it won't be any worse than the MWC once TCU bails and the new Texas schools find their footing.

D1 Just keeps expanding to keep these conferences going. 120 was too much and now there are going to be how many? There should be between 80-90 D1 institutions and that is it.

They need more bowl eligible teams.

Uh, not even close. I'd take Air Force football over every school left in the WAC, and they'll be battling for 3rd place among Nevada, Fresno, and SDSU (I'm assuming one of those teams finishes 2nd behind Boise). And it's still a good "non-BCS" basketball conference.

We'll see what happens to some of these "burgeoning" programs like Nevada and SDSU when MWC revenue is slashed by 50 percent and exposure is still terrible.

The Aztecs were on the verge of cancelling the out-of-state recruiting budget not so long ago.

SDSU doesn't have to leave their city to find legit FBS talent. They'll do just fine if they have to stay in-state.

And where is WAC revenue coming from when their top draw is Hawaii?
