Bosco had led BYU to the national championship but had thrown 3 (?) picks against top ten (I think they were, anyway) Air Force. He brought BYU back to win.

Although I wouldn't mind if they don't, Utah will bounce back nicely against the Irish, and the boo birds will assume it was because Whittingham and Wynn began doing what the drunks had counseled.
Thank you for not "sweeping the leg".

An angry University of Utah fan expressed his frustration by firing a gun in his yard, according to Salt Lake City police.
The Utes football team lost 47-7 Saturday in a big contest against TCU. Police said a 27-year-old man near 1200 S. Foothill Drive was so angry after the game he drank some alcohol and fired his pistol into the ground in his yard. Officers issued him a citation for discharging a firearm.

There was some booing around me in those 3 instances.

Of the three, I think the booing directly after the pick was most likely directed at Wynn and the offense.

The last one, I interpreted to be at the coaches.

I know that even those that were not boing around me were in disbelief that Wynn was back on the field and that Cain wasn't given a chance. To paraphrase a lot of what I heard around me, "Why aren't they giving Cain a chance?"

I think the booing at the end of the first half with the punt was very much directed at the decision to punt.

Now, I am not commenting on the propriety of going for it/punting at the end of the half nor on never playing Cain.

At any rate, the booing was embarrassing.

I've already thrown two message boards into a frenzy over my comments on the fans at the game. I don't want to do it to a third, so I'll leave me comments at that.

I don't mind the booing (I honestly never got upset enough during the game to express any negative emotion, but I understand the sentiment), but the personal insults and boorish behavior bothers me. There was a lot of fan conduct around me in N25 that indicated a lot of these people a) hadn't been to many, if any, games before this one; b) were seriously drinking the kool-aid on this team.

I didn't personally witness anything that made me embarrassed (the anti-BYU sentiment at CGD was bad, but mild in comparison to other instances), but I would be lying if I didn't enjoy the thought that losses like these will either eliminate the "sidewalk fans" (people who have no affiliation with the university outside of being a fan) or turn them into more moderate fans with reasonable expectations. There were way too many delusional zealots who said Utah was significantly better than TCU, and the Utes would win by double digits.

Last night was the replay. Since I only saw parts of the 1st quarter I tuned in. Junkie is right you can definitely hear the boo-birds on TV. There was one play in particular, I think it was in the 3rd quarter, where it got loud. Wynn dropped back, faced pressure and while backing up tried to check down to Asiata and missed him by 5 yards. The boos rained down hard after that play.

That game was uglier than the score indicates. That didn't look like any Utah team I have seen in a long time. That's a real head scratcher. I don't think TCU is that great.

In thinking back on this, Utah ran that read option dive play fake end-around 95% of the time against Air Force. I may just not be remembering, but I don't think they ran that play but for a handful of times against TCU, but when they did Asiata and Wide III had some success with it. Never got the ball in Reggie Dunn's hands...overall just not a good plan offensively or defensively.

The Ute fan on Fox TV shown offering fans "sacrament" and asking them if they were worthy was a classy touch.

I was joking with my son at the game about where the real Ute team was and who had kidnapped them.

What an idiot. Oh, well, to me that's more a function of Utah's dysfunctional culture than a reflection on the U. of U. I love the State of Utah but after not being a resident for many years, I have never missed the nonsense that goes on between many of the "nons" and many of the "Mo's."

While you and I and other Utah fans and alums may believe this statement, outsiders, especially of the Blue persuasion, will disagree.
