According to wikipedia for the Armed Forces bowl:Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostOr this,

"Mountain West vs. Conference USA or Army"
So maybe it will be BYU vs. Army?
I pulled the trigger and just bought a bunch of $10 general admission tickets for the south end zone. For $10 I am going no matter who is playing.Last edited by Uncle Ted; 11-28-2010, 01:57 PM."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Boise is infinitely better than Utah this season. That said, IIRC, they've lost at least four consecutive non-BCS bowls (TCU '08, ECU '07, BC '05, Louisville '04)."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

It's always better to win games against mediocre bowl opponents than lose them.Originally posted by oxcoug View PostHah Utah v Toledo - well that would ensure a continuation of the glorious Ute bowl winning streak.
It's not as if Utah is the only team from the MWC that has a history of facing poor bowl opponents.
We just beat them.

Utah vs. Boise would be the end of the four game non-BCS bowl losing streak for Boise.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostBoise is infinitely better than Utah this season. That said, IIRC, they've lost at least four consecutive non-BCS bowls (TCU '08, ECU '07, BC '05, Louisville '04).

Wrubell is saying vs. Nevada in the New Mexico bowl?
How would everyone feel about playing Nevada again? On the one hand it would suck to see a team we've already played, but on the other I'd like to see how we'd do against them this time around. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I'd hate it. As a rule I just don't like playing the same team in a bowl game that you play in a regular season game - hated it when we had to play UCLA twice a few years ago. One of the fun aspects of bowl season is the surprise of a new opponent that you couldn't have predicted. To get someone that you've already seen once isn't that fun.Ute-ī sunt fīmī differtī

At the risk of drawing the ire of FN and RC I have a hard time seeing how good BSU really is this year. Yes their QB is awesome, but how is their schedule any different than Utah's? VT is a better team than Pitt, but both required late drives to beat them. Both beat a below average BCS team, Oregon State and Iowa State though Utah more impressively and on the road. Both ran through the crap part of their schedule with blow out wins, then lost when they played someone good in conference though BSU less extremely.Originally posted by BoylenOver View PostBoise is infinitely better than Utah this season. The BSU QB is in a different world than Utah, but are the teams really that different?Get confident, stupid

Why do people keep saying that BYU is going to the New Mexico bowl? Is TCU not going to a BCS bowl? Doesn't the Armed Forces Bowl have the 4th MWC pick (ahead of the New Mexico bowl)?Originally posted by MarkGrace View PostWrubell is saying vs. Nevada in the New Mexico bowl?
Does the New Mexico and Armed Forces Bowls have some kind of clause in the agreement that lets them out of their obligation to the MWC if the last eligible gets into one of these bowls? In other words, can the Armed Forces Bowl pass on BYU if the New Mexico Bowl will take them? The payout of these bowls are the same so I assume that this is a possibility. However, most experts seem to think that regardless of what happens in the Utah-BYU game, Utah will be picked to play in the Las Vegas Bowl (if probable MWC champion TCU goes to a BCS game) and the Cougars will get an invite to the Armed Forces Bowl in Dallas on Dec. 30.
The bowl with second pick of non-BCS MWC teams, San Diego’s Poinsettia Bowl, is a virtual lock to take hometown San Diego State (7-4) to pit against Navy.
The Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La., has third pick and is expected to take 8-4 Air Force.
The Armed Forces Bowl has fourth pick of MWC bowl-eligible teams not taken by the BCS, and at that point BYU would be the only bowl-eligible MWC team remaining. If the BCS doesn’t take TCU — imagine the outcry if that happens — BYU would likely slide to the New Mexico Bowl, which is Dec. 18 in Albuquerque."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Also,The Armed Forces Bowl and New Mexico bowl are 4th/5th in MWC selection process, but in no particular order.
Army Sr. Exec. Assoc AD: "It looks pretty certain Army is going to the Armed Forces Bowl." Black Knights would face team from C-USA.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
