NJ is more of a recruting base than NY, NY doesn't produce as many NFLers as some might suspect. I would say for the population size of NY metro it isn't as big of recruiting base as most people assume. As would be expected NY and NJ are near the top of the list for NBA players.

He's not current, but if I'm not mistaken he was born on Hill AFB. Somewhere in the not so vast recesses of my mind, I remember a story in the DN/Trib about it.

Georgia should have more than one national title by now. That Georgia Tech, whose academics should severely handicap it in recruiting in the biggest metro area in the South, has the same number in the two-platoon era, and one more since WWII, makes no sense.

Georgia has almost always been good-great, with a string of .500-ish seasons in the 1990s being its only black mark over the last 40 years. It should have gotten over the hump a time or two outside of the Herschel Walker years.

Washington decided to stand pat when everyone around them was improving. Oregon, Oregon State, Boise all improved facilities, brought in new coaches and adapted systems. All while the Huskies staunchly said "We don't need to improve Husky Stadium! It is on Lake Washington!"

Washington fired Skippy for playing in an NCAA Bracket pool with other university employees then gave the HC job to some hack of a career assistant because he had a small tie to Don James.

Nearly a decade later they just grabbed the first young coach they could find and overpaid him. The decide they need $100 to improve Husky Stadium and there isn't a recruit out there that remembers their last bowl win.

I think this same comparison can be made with Tex A&M, TCU, Okie State and Tex Tech all made the jump and Tex A&M stood pat and hired retreads of coaches.

I get the tradition of husky stadium and it is a cool venue, but the sight lines and layout there are one of the worst in football.if you have end zone seats, you are maybe 40 yards from the goal posts, let alone the rest of the field. It is awful. They need to lose the track and change the seating.
