Bills committed after his Sophomore year of High School. It is a very different case.

A JUCO quarterback is a special case becomes teams don't want to touch them because they usually don't pan out.

I find it funny you hype Cain so much. You said it yourself that a good way to judge a kid is by how many offers he has.

      BYU: 2.81

Now in your own words you said that the best way to tell how good someone will be is by offers. So lets look at the top 5 recruits in each class based on star ranking.

      Utah:
      James Aiono: Utah
      Terrence Cain: Utah
Latu Heimuli: Utah, AZ, ASU, FLorida, Cal, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon State, UCLA
      Vyncent Jones: Utah
      Chris Washington: Utah, BYU

So other than Heimuli Utah really killed it.

      BYU:
Richard Wilson: Miami, LSU, BYU, Utah, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA
Kyle Van Noy: BYU, ASU, Boise State, Cal, Arizona, UCLA, Colorado
Adam Timo: (committed over 2 years ago) BYU, Stanford
Brett Thompson: BYU, Nebraska, Oregon State, Cal, Colorado
      Craig Bills: BYU

Looks like BYU wins that round.

      Scout star ratings:
      Utah: 2.52
      BYU: 2.77

Looks like BYU wins this one as well.

      Head to head recruiting:

      LT Filiga: Utah
      Latu Heimuli: Utah
      Richard Wilson: BYU
      Tui Crichton: BYU

      Looks pretty even.

One other thing, is if your two boys Payne and Dago dont qualify, BYU will have a higher average star rating on Rivals too.

junkie, I think the Aiono case is similar to the Bills case. He signed with Utah two years ago, and made it crystal clear during his time at Snow he was going to Utah.

Richard Wilson is the jewel of BYU's class, though. He's going to be another great BYU TE.

I'm not shocked that SU thinks that Utah has the better recruiting class. I am also not shocked that Junkie thinks BYU has the better class. With all that said, Junkie is correct.

It should scare the bejesus out of you that this debate is even possible.

If bills is off limits so should these guys. Not to mention Eliapo's brother or whittingham's nephew.

You can have both Eliapos brother and Whittinghams nephew. Lets go to the next recruits then for both teams, I will take out Aiono and Jones. Also I will remove Bills.

Jray Galea'i: BYU, Hawaii, Oregon State

I still give it to BYU.

Why? 2 BCS games in 5 years, I think it should be the other way around. You should be kicking our ass in recruiting right now. You have a much larger recruiting base to pull from, you have zero restrictions on who you can bring in, and face it your academic standards are suspect when it comes to athletes.

college football news disagrees with you SU, but really who gives a shit. You just won a national championship with the same type of recruiting.

                          41. BYU
The class is heavy on ... Defensive backs. There are some really nice players being brought in at several positions, but the best combination of star power and bulk is in the secondary with a few fantastic safety prospects, led by Craig Bills, one of the nation’s best, and two excellent corners in Lee Aguirre and Trevor Bateman. The offense loaded up on decent running back prospects with Adam Timo considered among the best in the nation, if he doesn’t move to safety, with Peni Maka’afi and Anthony Heimuli each certain to keep the ground game rolling.

                          54. Utah
The class is heavy on ... The passing game. The Utes loaded up on receivers big-time last year, but apparently that wasn’t enough with even more targets coming in this year, including JUCO transfers Antoine Smithson and Ray Magee, to help an offense that loses all the starting receivers. Jamal Smith should be the best of the bunch, but he might not emerge for a few years. Meanwhile, JUCO transfer Terrance Cain will make a push for Brian Johnson’s open quarterback spot.

My honest thoughts off this years recruiting class.

Both BYU and Utah picked up some very talented kids this year and it would be pretty hard to say who is the distinct winner of the coveted "February Championship".

I personally think Utah did an excellent job in recruiting guys with speed. BYU fans should be jealous of this.

BYU also dropped the ball in addressing immediate needs for the team. They should have had the amount of JC corners/secondary players Utah had on their signing list and more LB's than they landed. BYU needs some serious help on one side of the ball and I am not convinced they got it for next year in this class. I think they also signed to many big Wide Receivers. 2 of them are the same guy and they are the same guy they recruited the past couple of years. Thompson will be the wide out from this class that will be good IMO. He is legit.

Utah on the other hand, was very JC heavy. Yes I am biased and don't like the JC route and yes Utah has seen "some" success with this. I am still surprised that they signed so many JUCO guys this year especially with really good talent already in the system. They did get a ton of speed though as well as got some quality big guys up front. Speed kills.

As you know (most likely better than I), Kyle's theory is to recruit speed and then find a position on the team for him to play. As they say, you can't teach speed. But Kyle's figured out how to put weight on a kid without slowing him down and moving him to a different spot. It seems that several of Utah's LBs in the past were recruited as safeties. And moving Sean Smith to CB with his size and speed was a great idea.

I'm guessing that the reason KW went with so many JC guys is to add depth. That is what separates a traditionally strong BCS team from a traditionally strong non-BCS team.

I'll go out on a limb that the best lineman of either class, on either side of the lines...will end up being Terry Alletto.
