Really? No offense to TCU, but stiff compeitition from the big 12 and pac 12? If either conference wanted TCU, they would have grabbed TCU. I think this is just the case of people in the Big East thinking that TCU is that golden egg.
Clearly whoever wrote this is clueless. TCU in the WAC? LOL. The Big 12 has no interest in TCU... Just ask Gary Patterson:

This might be what coach just linked to, but this is from espn's insider.

Several sources tell Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that TCU and Big East officials have discussed a move by the Horned Frogs for either the 2011 or 2012 season, with one source saying that the two sides met within the last 30 days.

Star-Telegram columnist Randy Galloway breaks down some of the pros and cons of such a move, with an insider telling him that travel to Big East schools is actually preferable to travel to MWC schools because none are more than one time zone away, and on return flights back to Texas you actually "gain" time.

Moreover, says Galloway, the alternatives -- beg for a Big 12 invite; wait and join forces with Big 12 leftovers (assuming Texas, et al. leave); or wait for the MWC to secure AQ status -- seem even more far-fetched than a Texas school in the Big East.

One potentially complicating factor: A source tells Stevenson that it's unclear how Villanova's decision might impact an invitation to TCU, i.e., whether the Wildcats' agreeing to upgrade to I-A would rule out further expansion by the conference.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

The Big east blows chunks. What needs to happen is the BCS needs to remove their AQ status and let them go away. Hell the WAC and MWC have better rankings across the board via the Big East.. It is a joke they are even in the BCS AQ status..

Interesting..honestly a good move for TCU, its other sports get to join a higher profile league, and their football team might just dominate the football side of the action.

Ummm - unless they secretly notified the MWC prior to Sept 1 that they were leaving, they're not planning on a 2011 Big East schedule. I guess there's always a buy-out of some kind. But if TCU's not giving a year's notice, teams will start to have logistics problems that will increase the actual damages of TCU breaking the contract...

Talk to CU and the Big 12. They seemed to have worked something out.

The Big East will never lose their AQ status. It was written into the BCS contract when it was created in the 90s (or so I've heard). I think the ACC has been the worse conference overall the past few years. Having said that, I think the bottom of the MWC still brings it down enough to make it worse than the Big East. The MWC may be better at the top of the conference but there is more depth in the Big East. If travel costs don't end up being that big of a deal, I think it would be smart for TCU to be in the Big East.

actually I think BSU makes out like kings..this pretty much assures them that they will get the non-AQ BCS spot every year, they just eliminated 2 of their biggest NON-AQ BCS rivals in Utah and TCU

If that was their intent, they would have never left the WAC. When they made the jump, BYU, TCU, and Utah were all in the MWC. They wanted to be paired up. If the goal was to coast through the season, they would have simply stayed put in the WAC.

I doubt very highly that BSU is stoked about these conference developments.

Could be. They must go undefeated every year, and that just isn't going to happen. I think it is more likely that their will be a string of years where no AQ makes the BSC. Also, They are going to have to deal with a couple of things. 1, telling CA, OR, WA recruits that they are not going to be able to see themselves on TV anymore. 2, The renegotiation that is supposedly built into the comcast contract and potential loss of money. Going to be an interesting offseason for the MWC once again.

well with UTah, BYU and TCU gone, they are essentially playing in the WAC again. No offense to current MWC teams.

Agree. Boise State has went from the WAC and ESPN to MWC and The mnt. And the best schools are leaving the MWC. They got hosed.

If I was in charge of the Big East and I wanted to strengthen my football schedule as well as open key recruiting ground, I would talk to TCU and SMU. I think SMU is going to blow up into a great football program again. Individually, these schools are a nice addition but together they can start to make an impression. Combined with South Florida and you have a stronger southern presence in the Big East. Maybe you even look at adding Memphis or Tulsa or someone else who gives you a geograhical fit and could belong in the Big East for basketball/football.
