How bad is BYU's pass offense?

Why would it be more interesting then? The results of 11,000+ games are independent of Heaps' career progression.Originally posted by DapperDan View PostIt's interesting to a point, but it would be more interesting if Heaps hadn't just had his first full week of practice and first start. With the split reps and everything these results were to be expected.

It is clear that Heaps has a way to go before he is good. Hopefully when we see his season averages they will compare more favorably.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostWhy would it be more interesting then? I'm interested in any post that has BYU ranked 1287th in anything.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostOut of curiosity, do posts like these interest anyone?"In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. What a great thing it is" - Northwestcoug

I think there needs to be a whole thread devoted to the complete and utter lack of production out of the TEs right now. I don't think a TE had a single reception in the last game.
I think BYU's defense is going to improve to the point where they can keep BYU in game. BYU's offense needs to outpace the improvement in other teams' defenses and I don't see that happening unless the following things occur:
1. Heaps establishes a better rhythm with the WRs (I think this will happen)
2. BYU finds a TE (I'm very skeptical that this will happen right now)
3. Kariya only touches the ball when Quezada and DiLuigi need to come out of the game (I'm not sure if the coaching staff has figured out what everyone else knows).Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

I think the coaching staff knows. It's just as Criddle said in the post game show. Tenure is everything to the BYU coaching staff.Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View Post

They are extremely interesting to me and I appreciate the effort you put in coming up with themOriginally posted by Indy Coug View PostOut of curiosity, do posts like these interest anyone?
I especially love them when you don't follow up with your analysis of what conclusion we should come to when we see them.

The ex BYU guys really roasted the coaching after the game. Especially that 4th and 4 call. Jan, Criddle and Johnson. I am not even considering Hans because many fans think he isn't a BYU guy anymore.Originally posted by WashingtonCoug View PostI think the coaching staff knows. Of course when I mentioned it on CB, I got the obligatory, why do you listen to 1280. My opinion, these guys played the game for BYU. I don't see them as BYU haters. I prefer listening to them than Wrubbell. Don't we already know how the Wrubbell thing is going to go.
No offense, if I was the voice of BYU, I would go the way Wrubbell does.

The real problem with the passing game isn't the WR, the O-line, or the play calling. Our passing game sucks right now because of decision making. Heaps seems to make consistently bad pre-snap reads. He compounds it with consistently bad post snap reads. He is a young QB (like Beck when he started out) and he isn't yet able to make the right decision at the right time. I hate Freshmen QBs.
Nelso made better decisions and reads but he had a noodle for and arm and the best reads in the world won't help you if you can't throw it.
