Who is Colorado's big rival?Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostI disagree. Neither team is ever going to replace their existing big rival however, a rivalry can be built between the two teams over time.
Nebraska? Nebraska sure doesn't think so...
I'd say CU is pretty open to a new rivalry.
It remains to be seen if Utah fans can juggle more than one rivalry. I'd like to see the Utah/BYU game go to alternating years. It would allow us to satisfy the fanbase with what they know, but it would allow room for growth of another tradition with, perhaps, CU.
It won't happen overnight, but neither did the Utah/BYU thing. It wasn't really until the 70's that BYU replaced USU as the main rival in football. One could argue that even then, it wasn't truly a rivalry. Utah seldom won and many BYU fans without ties to the state of Utah couldn't have cared less about Utah. It was really until the 90's and Ron McBride that Utah and BYU became a true rivalry.

Oh, I totally agree with a rivalry being built over time between two teams. It will be interesting to see what transpires with Nebraska in the Big Ten. The Big Ten has established an annual cross-over game between Nebraska and Penn St. That has some promise, but I suspect a bigger rivalry will transpire between Nebraska-Wisconsin (even though they won't play every year) and Nebraska-Michigan (even though it will never/cannot replace Ohio St.-Michigan). Nebraska-Iowa will become a rivalry game (and a good one at that).Originally posted by Hot Lunch View PostI disagree. No onto Colorado. As a Cornhusker fan, I've already been in the shoes that many Ute fans seem so anxious to fill. And I will state that nobody who has an understanding of Colorado football should embrace Colorado as a rival. Not unless the Buffalos reform and I'm not talking just about the gridiron. Perhaps it is too conventional, but the best rivalries are founded on mutual respect and accomplishment. Colorado did little to garner respect on the girdiron or anywhere else.
While I agee that BYU-Utah will not be replaced, Ute fans should be cautious about embracing Colorado. There are four other teams in their division and six additional in the PAC-12 to choose a rival from and all are more "worthy" than Colorado.“Not the victory but the action. Not the goal but the game. In the deed the glory.”

Read between the lines. BYU will be playing in the B12 next season. Lining up easy OOC wins like weber state makes sense.Originally posted by Maximus View PostNew hot rumor: Weber State week 2 next year. And apparently we are supposed to love it.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Holmoe is trying to shore up September. Most of the other games will have to be cancelled or rescheduled. They will conflict with B12 conference play.Originally posted by Maximus View PostWe have plenty of OOC wins next season. Though I wish you were right.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Uugggghhhh!!!!Originally posted by Maximus View PostNew hot rumor: Weber State week 2 next year. And apparently we are supposed to love it.
I just threw up a little.
The only way this is a "good thing" is if we truly are going to the Big XII starting in 2012. Otherwise, I'm rather disappointed in this.

It's the Big 12. The conference is never going to take your petitions seriously if they're not even addressed correctly.Originally posted by OSUCougar View PostUugggghhhh!!!!
