I don't think much positive has happened to us over the past five years. SJBH. Rivals have gone to the Big 12 and PAC12 respectively while we're messing around with independence (and this is continuing to look like a long term thing), we're giving bad scheduling agreements to schools like Arizona, losing to Utah four straight, 3-2 against USU, recruiting in state is going poorly, basketball is in a worse league than the MWC that we can't win and we've taken a step back there, so yeah I don't feel like much has gone right for half a decade, and it was nice to see some conference throw us a bone.

The AZ deal is bad and it sets the worst precedent yet with respect to scheduling. Most of the scheduling has been lopsided, but even me, the resident MWC proponent, can see there have been some things to be happy about.

I just don't like extending a series with Arizona and not getting another home game out of it. Arizona isn't a program that's anything special. We should be scheduling with them on even terms. I was fine with the neutral game, but adding another neutral game and another road game is stupid.

And yeah, there's things that are good that have happened, but it's outweighed by the negatives.

I don't love the UA series, but independence is still in its infancy. We are still beggars, and therefore, cannot choose.

I would argue independence is at least in its single adult phase. By year 10 we will be at least middle aged and likely a middle aged program that has spent the last 10 years smoking 2 packs a day. We will not survive past past 15 years unless we happen to have the program genetics of George Burns.

Oh and we will be beggars and not choosers as long as we are outside of a power 5 conference. Sucks but it is true. Yes I acknowledge that we would be beggars in the MWC too...

You need to stop the MWC stuff. Did you not see the article about our football contracts? They can only be cancelled (without a huge penalty) if we join a P5 conference. There is zero chance we will ever go back to the MWC. Never. Ever.
