Has anyone else heard the rumor that the ND is really 2 games in Provo, 2 games in South Bend and 2 games in Chicago. That was ESPN will get three games (one of the Chicago neutral site games, BYU can be labeled the 'home' team) and NBC gets 3.

I've heard rumors about Dublin too. Don't know if I put stock in any of them.Originally posted by Rickomatic View PostHas anyone else heard the rumor that the ND is really 2 games in Provo, 2 games in South Bend and 2 games in Chicago. I've been to Dublin before and now I'm trying to remember if we had Wendy's on our way through or not.Originally posted by YOhio View PostAwesome! That's just an hour or so away from me (also the birthplace of Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers).

Why would NBC/ND agree to this deal? BYU fans really think highly of themselves.Originally posted by Rickomatic View PostHas anyone else heard the rumor that the ND is really 2 games in Provo, 2 games in South Bend and 2 games in Chicago. NBC would still get their allotment of Notre Dame home games and Notre Dame would get higher gate receipts from playing in an NFL stadium in Chicago. Neutral site games almost always charge higher ticket prices.Originally posted by SloanHater View PostWhy would NBC/ND agree to this deal? BYU fans really think highly of themselves.
P.S. That doesn't mean I believe the rumor, I'm just positing why it might work from a financial standpoint.

Because Chicago is 73 miles away from South Bend. NBC can't tell Notre Dame not to schedule essentially a three and three from a TV perspective.Originally posted by SloanHater View PostWhy would NBC/ND agree to this deal? BYU fans really think highly of themselves.
EDIT: Soldier Field is 95 miles away from South Bend. Still, that's pretty close. I'm not from Chicago and in fact have never been there, but I wonder with that kind of proximity if Notre Dame is bigger than Northwestern and Illinois in that area.Last edited by Color Me Badd Fan; 09-21-2010, 11:36 AM.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
