  • since this is a rumors thread (the below was posted on utefans):

Last week, BYU fan site DeepShadesOfBlue.com reported that several big name opponents were lining up to schedule the Cougars. Reportedly in the works are 3-game sets with Nebraska, Wisconsin and possibly Penn State. UCLA and USC are among the schools rumored for a series of two games.
We have some additional BYU scheduling information to pass along. Keep in mind that these are only rumors unless or until officially announced:
BYU will travel to Arizona State to kick off the 2013 season on Friday night on ESPN
BYU will play Penn State in 2014 at FedEx Field in Landover, MD
Starting in 2015, BYU will play Syracuse home-home-neutral (Meadowlands Stadium)
The neutral game in the Nebraska series will be in Denver, CO
BYU will play Ohio State home-home-neutral (Dallas, TX)

To get better picks, the Holiday would have had to increase the average ticket price from $60 to $100.
Yes, you might be right. A lot of BYU fans are too cheap to pay $100 for a ticket.

You thought that BYU had a shot at securing the holiday bowl as an independent? No wonder you won't join the bandwagon, your head is still filled with delusion.

                  • I would love to see one of these rumors become reality.

BYU could really use a shot of enthusiasm from the fans.

What about an automatic with BYU if they have 10 wins or are in the top 25 or something? Seems like that's a good draw, at least better than they did last year.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

This is a good point. As much as fans gripe about crappy bowls because "we're BYU, we travel well, etc." at least they fit the typical BYU fan budget.

                        • Wasn't the Vegas Bowl 75 bucks a ticket? We never had problem selling that sucker out. I'm sure BYU fans would show to a better bowl for 25 bucks more...

No. The $25 a ticket would just be too much. Don't try to dispell the "cheap Mormon" stereotype, it would rock some people's worlds too much.

Yep, that's close. If I remember the actual price was like $50, but BYU put a $25 surcharge on the tickets for those games that had a lot of interest.
