On the pros and cons of BYU being an independent in football (the Cougars went 10-3 and beat Tulsa in the Armed Forces Bowl in their first season as an independent): "We can play whoever, wherever we want. That's a double-edged sword, though. It is hard to schedule."Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...#ixzz1ioZNh6YxOn whether, given the changing landscape of conference affiliations, fans can plan on having BYU in the WCC for a long time: "Nobody knows. ... We've got to take care of the football program. ... It's not like it's the 800-pound gorilla in the room. We've discussed it with (WCC Commissioner) Jamie Zaninovich and other administrators."So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

If it gives us a degree of separation from Idaho, SJSU or NMSU, I'm very happy. ECU has had its share of competitive teams over the last decade, including being ranked on several occasions.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostIncredibly indifferent. ECU does NOTHING for BYU.
I reserve the right to change my mind if this game becomes the 7th or 8th "best" game of the year. If it's one of the top games, then uggh.
Besides it throws guys like Tim a frickin bone as far as being able to attend a BYU football game.

Good. Between now and the end of the 2018 season, there are 84 football games to play. It's good to get teams on the schedule, and they all can't be Texas or Oklahoma."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

Since 2 of them are texas or oklahoma, I dont think we should be worried about them all being texas or oklahoma.Originally posted by kccougar View PostGood. I do agree that it is better than the crap WAC teams, but it still isn't going to take us where they (well, I anyway) want them to go. It's a fine game in and of itself, but if future schedules are filled with these types of games, it means nothing. I could totally see 3-4 BCS teams and then a bunch of CUSA teams. That doesn't cut it.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostIf it gives us a degree of separation from Idaho, SJSU or NMSU, I'm very happy. Yes, that may be "better" than what we have had in the past, but times have changed. I want BYU to execute at a higher level (not just on the playing field) and not just settle for "well, it's a little better than before!".

If 2013 and 2014 are any guide, there are going to be plenty of BCS teams on our future schedules. There are even 5 BCS teams on our 2012 schedule, plus Boise State.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostI do agree that it is better than the crap WAC teams, but it still isn't going to take us where they (well, I anyway) want them to go. Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.
