      Don't forget about Utah State.

Yes, I think. But what about the years BYU plays Hawaii at home.

It might or might not be. Only the negotiators know for sure.

They're not being pawns. They sign a conditional agreement Big deal. Its not like teams dont cancel contracts all the time.

True, and I agree that they are not being pawns. but when was the last time a 12 year contract was announced? Esp if it could be nixed in the next year or so?

I have o answer for this. Before I started hanging on every tier three utterance from Chip Brown this summer I didnt pay too much attention to this sort of thing.

Perhaps this is all ESPN's doing. I don't know how the ESPN contract would be affected if BYU goes to the Big XII, but it feels to me like something that ESPN wanted to announce now. We know it's been in the works for a long time. Could be a way to drum up publicity for a Big XII announcement?

Here's what I'm thinking. Didn't we trade WashSt for GATech? Now confirming this commitment to BSU for several years. I suspect BYU is retrenching to scheduling in the region because it anticipates that the rigors of Big-12 scheduling will be an obvious drag on athletes' schedules and resources (the map shows we sit way out here away from everybody else). Also, best to secure soon-to-be non-conference games at places within the region to which fans can easily travel because the Big-12 schedule will probably not afford that opportunity to most fans.

But odd timing on the announcement.
                        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Nothing like taking a break from the rigors of the Big12 schedule by playing Boise State every year out of conference.

OTOH, if Boise gets left out, perhaps Peterson walks and recruits start to see the writing on the wall. If Boise falls back to Fresno-like levels then this is a nice regional game for BYU.

that is what I was thinking. BYU in the big 12 and playing Boise, Utah, Notre Dame and Hawaii for the next 6-10 years? wtf?
                            Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Don't worry. You have USU lined up for a while, too. That's a sure win for BYU.

If you are thinking the same thing as PU about BYU you should probably think again.
