  • The great thing about NIL is that some of these guys can make more money by staying. A guy like Glasker risks not making a roster and making squat or being guaranteed 6-7 figures.

I really hope we can retain our glasker and LJ.

    • I hate this because I think everyone should boycott scheduling ND. I hate those guys.

Looks like Santiago hustled them. Good for him.
Yes, and BYU lost its one P4 non-conference game for next year when Cal canceled recently. To meet the Big 12 rule, they needed to add another for next year but there were no P4 schools with openings. Well done, Brian.

        • While I'm not a fan of Notre Dame (mostly because of the way they treated BYU), I care infinitely more about BYU and this is a good thing for BYU.

          • I wanted all schools to boycott ND just like most everyone else, but then in this season I decided that that was not the best way to live life and treat our fellow men. I am happy BYU feels the same and is reaching out with an olive branch. My religion is kindness.

            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

The recent increased backlash against anyone scheduling Notre Dame may have provided the juice BYU needed to get this game scheduled.

Yes, instead, BYU should beat them in Lavell Edwards Stadium (again).

                  • Apparently this all started on ND's end when negotiations with USC to continue their game failed. USC-ND will not happen the next two years at least.

That left ND scrambling to fill a vacancy. And it just so happened that BYU was in the same position, with Cal cancelling late on BYU.

It sure would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall for the discussions between the athletics departments in ironing out the details.

I've noticed what seems to be an increase in those calling for a boycott to scheduling Notre Dame (until they join a conference for football) in response to ND's recent antics (taking their ball and going home instead of playing in a bowl game).

Probably not from anyone that mattered, though.

How does that "provide the juice" to BYU?

BYU was likely not ND's first choice to fill the USC void, but with other teams "boycotting" them (supposedly) BYU may have become the default option. That's what I took from Pelado's initial comment.

Maybe Notre Dame is noticing more difficulty in getting good opponents on the schedule.

                              • I recognize BYU needed a P4 in a bad way due to Cal opting out recently. Getting a decent P4 on that short of notice has to be a challenge. So with USC cancelling on ND, they were in a similar boat and the stars aligned.

Doesn't mean I have to like it though. Oh well.
