As crazy as it sounds, I think this is not a bad idea for BYU overall. They get an easier game and they get their team to an area of the country that they don't get to too often. I have little doubt that Tennessee is a place that BYU wants to go to get their team in front of members in that region. BYU probably could have gotten a 1 and done. I would not be surprised if they chose the 1:1.

If BYU really wants to go to Tennessee, they should have done it with Memphis (still a bad football team, but a little more high profile and will be in the Big East) or a 2:1 with MTSU.

Memphis is worse than MTSU and BYU has already made Liberty Bowl experiences there. MTSU is near Nashville.

I can't believe that I am saying this, but I agree with Indy...people are complaining about playing the team, yet people want to play them 3 times? Out of principle? Why do you want a 3-game series with them and have them come to your place twice? I think having them once is more than enough...and going to their place once is not crazy awful.

Fair points. Though many teams in 2:1 instances make it a a H-H in 2 years, and then delay the 3rd game for 5-7 years. Which equals more home games in the long run, and not playing the same team 3 years consecutively.
This makes it official. It is BYU's fault the rivalry is going away for two years. If they were at all serious about keeping the rivalry alive they wouldn't be offering us the same arrangement they can get from Middle Tennessee freaking State.

Wrong. Every series we schedule is critical. The great (and maybe even good) programs are all requiring 2:1 with us, which means to balance it out and get enough home games we have to do Weber State and set up some 2:1's in our favor. Doing a home and home with MTSU is yet another sign that independence is a huger FAIL.
No, no, no. They clearly did this to clear up a spot for BYU.
Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats.
