Why are there two formulas for NFL and NCAA?

I don't know, but the NFL formula is beyond stupid. The NCAA formula isn't perfect, but at least it doesn't have a maximum value for each component.

At least the NCAA formula doesn't give you a rating of 39.6 if you go 0 for 1,000 with 0 yards, 0 TDs and 0 INTs.

How many quarterbacks can throw 1,000 times without a single interception? Kinda impressive, if you ask me.

          • Goat I looked and can not find your post about BYUs middle backers. But I rewatched the game and Shane Hunter made several plays, and Austen Jorgensen stopped a 3rd and short late in the game. I thought the middle backers played solid all game long.

Overall I thought they were solid. UW got very few runs of longer than 2 yards. UW was unable to consistently win the LOS against the DL and as long as the ILBs got to the right hole they had no running room at all. However, on the long runs it was the result, IMO, of the ILBs not being at the right spot. I think the herky jerky feast or fammon nature of the UW run game indicates good players that are just not yet experienced enough to consistently get to the right spots.

I am guessing that after today's performance by both teams that the answer to the question is no. Gameday will not be in Tallahassee next Saturday.

I was really hoping that post just flew under the radar.

Not many posts on this board fly under the radar.

It would be nice if college had a pre-season. No polls, some exhibition games, etc. So you'd have an idea of how good/bad your team is before week 3 of the season.
