Not many QBs do better under pressure, that is a given. But I think he did fine considering the injury. His stats bare that out. Competing 58%, getting three TDs, one turnover, against a ranked opponent with a good defensive while you're injured I think is not too bad.
Watch his feet. When he has time, his feet aren't perfectly set but they aren't moving around. When he was pressured, his feet were all over the place and the majority of the time he was throwing the ball off of his back foot.

I would expect his thumb probably bothered him as well, but even in the first half before the injury, the times he was pressured and threw off of his back foot he was much less accurate than when he had all day to throw.

Right. Because I'm a BYU fan, I am incapable of giving praise and must immediately diminish anything a Ute player does. I'll keep that in mind.

Nah, you're one of the good guys. See if you can influence your brethren here.

Anytime you beat a ranked opponent, particularly from the vaunted BCS conferences it's a good win. The Utes will have an undefeated showdown for control of the MWC crown when TCU visits. I don't think you lose again until then. AFA maybe, but your front 7 showed me enough to believe that you should slow the triple option.

Don't sweat it. UD has you confused with junkie.

Frankly, I don't see whence Utah's losses will come this year. The great curse of being a Ute until recently was the penchant of dropping games that should have been won. The last such game was the 27-0 UNLV game. Where once you could always plan on one or two slipping through the cracks, you now count on Utah picking those games up. The four games I'd have pegged as potential losses were Pitt, ND, TCU, and BYU. Of those, TCU is the only likely loss as of now.

Utah could be very, very good this year.

I appreciate the respect, but Utah's front 7 is always strong, and they often do a great job of shutting down the triple option. It's other things that go wrong (bad offensive performances; bad secondary play; turnovers; lapses) that lead to these too-close victories and losses against the Falcons.

I also have mild-to-moderate concern about our trip to Iowa St. I mean, Whit's 5-0 after a bye week, but nonconference road games outside the state of Utah have been a struggle (3-4, and all three of those wins weren't decided until the 4th quarter).

I think the month of September looks pretty easy, but after that there's plenty of legitimate stumbling blocks leading to the massive showdown against TCU.

Put me on the list saying that Wynn doesn't do well under pressure.

Wait, that's not exactly it. I've already said that Wynn doesn't seem to be able to improvise very well (a charge I hear against Heaps as well, we will see today). This is a little different. If Wynn is seeing the same blitz over and over, or if the coaches tell him that a blitz is coming from a certain direction, and tell him what to do if that happens, Wynn is proficient under pressure. If something new shows up, it seems as though he panics and looks to the sidelines. I was shocked to hear that Wynn calls 30% of his own plays. If so, then they must be the 30% that dont require any reaction or adjustment, and his best reads are the ones he makes before the ball is hiked. Wynn is no Brian Johnson.

On the good side, I love Cullen and I say this with a glint of envy.

I'm not sold on Blechhen yet but I'm sure I will inevitably turn into an admirer. He looked lost a lot. I think he's got good instincts but hasnt yet developed the discipline needed for a zone. But cripes do I like to watch him play. When he's moving laterally he looks just like Weddle, the same movement and the same posture. He's even got that slight forward slump to his shoulders like Weddle.

I thought the utes played poorly, but looked like a team that could be very good this year. Wynn should be solid, the receivers are athletic, the running game is very impressive and the defense should be typically stout.

That said, Pitt is not the 15th best team in the country and I might hesitate to put them in the top 35 (they have a running back, and a pretty good defensive line and that's about it). As good as the utes are/could be, this game - due to how poorly they played (mostly second half) and the fairly weak opponent at home - was not a very good test in terms of determining where the utes are at this year.
                      I'm like LeBron James.
