I had similar feelings. I've never been more happy to be wrong. Retzlaff has been an great ambassador for BYU.

Add me to the group that is happy about you (and the quoted article) being wrong.

Arizona State: Jeff Sims, Trenton Bourguet, Sam Leavitt
    BYU: Gerry Bohanon, Jake Retzlaff
Northwestern: Jack Lausch, Ryan Hilinski, Mike Wright
    Rutgers: Athan Kaliakmanis
Stanford: Ashton Daniels, Justin Lamson, Elijah Brown
Washington State: John Mateer, Zevi Eckhaus

This was the comment RE: BYU:
    • This will be Bohanon's seventh year in college football. He has thrown more than six touchdowns in just one of them.

I wouldn't be surprised to see McCae Hillstead as the starter by the end of the season. Maybe Retzlaff has figured things out and settled down. Maybe Bohanon stays healthy and turns into a guy. But if I were betting on one of those three, Hillstead would be my call.
I'm very happy that both this article and myself appear to have been wrong about Retzlaff.

I don't expect to be cold for that game - planning to watch it from Maui.

Big missed opportunity for the Big 12 to advance the likelihood of an at large selection with fellow at large competitors like aTm and Clemson getting shellacked by non-playoff teams. But with Iowa State and KSU both losing as well it seems the only fairly sure at large Big 12 bid would be an undefeated BYU losing in the Big 12 championship. Maybe a one loss Iowa State that loses in the championship would also get selected but I think more carnage among the other leagues' at large competitors is needed to feel better about that.

Overall KSU and Iowa state losing is good for us for the conference title race and getting to the Big12 championship would be incredible after last season.

I think I allowed myself to believe that they could win more than 8, but they are far exceeding my expectations.
