I hadn't heard that before, so I looked it up. In the same article, he cited his catholic faith for his support of Colin Kaepernick, providing aid to the poor, and attending a protest after George Floyd's death. He may be insufferable in his public coaching persona, but that sounds like a decent human being.

I'm guessing pro-life groups diverge with him on those later positions...

What is your problem with Saban? The most successful college coach in history and not even a whiff of cheating or scandal.

They do (compared to other blue blood programs). It's hard to get kids from recruting hotbeds (SoCal, Texas, Florida, etc.) to forego staying near home and head north to.....Ann Arbor. That's why Michigan woefully underperformed for two decades. Although I'm not sure why tOSU is in the discussion, at least there's something to do in Columbus.

Taysom Hill thinks he's a good dude, and that's good enough for me.

I watched a mini-documentary about him when he first took over the Stanford job. i freaking wanted to run through a wall for the Cardinal. That's a fantastic coach.

The only reason I can see to dislike him is if he's coaching your opponent/rival. That's got to suck.

Wait, are we talking about Kyle Whittingham now?

The Colorado game scored some big ratings, particularly for its timeslot when it was competing against a slew of other games. Only the FSU-LSU game, on by itself in primetime, beat it this last weekend. The 3rd place game was far behind. Coach Prime brings ratings.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Yeah that hire has had an immediate ROI.

That doesn't surprise me in the slightest. As I put earlier, I know people who very rarely, if ever, watch college football and on Saturday you would have sworn they've been Colorado fans all their life. I have nothing personal against Sanders, he was a great player, and seems like a good coach; however, the whole love in the media has with him and the internet in general, has already gotten a bit tiresome. Maybe I am just sounding like a grouchy old man haha, but that's just how I feel.

And really doesn't matter what school he is at; he could have taken the South Florida job like a lot thought he would, or heck even a MAC school, and would still be getting the same press.

His personality just rubs me the wrong way. Kind of like Jose Mourinho in the soccer world, he seems to throw his players under the bus a lot. You just won 40-3? You're gonna publicly hear from Saban all of things that you did wrong as a player. I understand that's his way of trying to motivate his players. I'm more of a "praise in public, criticize in private" person. I'm not saying Saban is a bad person or a bad coach (who can say that?), but I just wouldn't want him as my coach.

Not surprising. It had the most hype of any game on Saturday - including the lead-in from Fox's Big Noon show. It was also a very entertaining game, with a huge underdog leading the vast majority of the game.

I think his problem is only with Saban’s personality.

Oh he treats his insanely talented players well? Shocker! I'm kidding. My statement should be modified to say his on field persona is an insufferable jackass and that doesn't preclude him being a good person off the field. To be fair he treats officials like horse shit and that's a trigger for me on how I judge coaches' on field character.
