It's popped up in a couple of FO discussions on CB. You never know if things like that all originate at a single bad source, but this one seems fairly legit.

What happened? I'm not seeing anything on Grimes out there. Are we moving on from hiring him?

In a way, it would be an awkward situation for everyone. He was the OC. Then lost the play calling role to ARod. Then left for another gig and failed. And now will return under the person he lost some roles to before he left. Seems strange. But the problem is that BYU won't pay him enough?

Reports now breaking that he will be hired as the OC at Kansas.

Looks like BYU got outbid, and not just with money. Makes sense he would prefer a lateral move over a downgrade to OL coach.

I'm somewhat indifferent on BYU and Grimes not coming to terms.

Has our OL been better when he's been here than when he hasn't? Yeah, I think it has.

Is he someone who is "long" for BYU? Probably not – so I'm okay if we're finding someone who isn't using BYU as a two year stepping stone and is more interested in being here long-term.

Ultimately, I guess it depends on who end up coming. But I'm not opposed to some new blood.

I can't say that I'm terribly excited about this hire. If he's upgrade I guess I'll take it. But, this is what Big 12 $$ gets us? Prove me wrong and if we have a 1,000 yard rusher next season I'll eat my shoe!

I beleive he was Aiden Robbins O line coach at UNLV last year. He ran for over 1000 yards. He also followed Gary Anderson to Wisconsin and Oregon State and they were successful running the ball. It's not a sexy hire but we'll see how he does. A bigger problem for BYU is not getting any transfer QBs to bite. I'm sure the Kedon Slovis experiment hasn't helped. But the QB room is awful right now.
