  • 2023 BYU Football:The First Year of The Quorum of the BIG12

Is anyone else really, really glad Max Duggan already declared for the 2023 NFL draft?

He's pretty good, and mobile QBs are fun to watch, except for when they play against BYU. I was rooting for TCU all the way against Michigan yesterday, and I'll root for TCU against Georgia too. I don't like TCU all that much but it's good for the B12 if they win the natty.

I used to want the Utes to do well when they were in the same conference as BYU because it indirectly helped BYU; however, it's a complete zero-sum game between the two so I will be rooting for Penn State tomorrow.

Man, I'm excited to see the B12 schedule. I know no divisions, but are they gonna do pods?

Hope to be in a Texas pod for sure

Sorry, you are a bad person if you have ever rooted for the utes. I'd root for Satan if he were playing the utes.

I understand the sentiment; but there are times when a conference-mate winning is helpful for your team and you have to hold your nose and hope your conference mate wins.

Fortunately, there is nobody in the B12 I really hate.Yet. I'm sure that will come soon enough. I can see Texas Tech and Oklahoma State rising to up to the top of my list pretty quickly.

Oh wait, I forgot that I already hate Iowa State because their student government opposed BYU to the B12 back in 2016. They're already at the top of my list. Iowa State can suck it.

When it is a direct rival that recruits the same area and kids, it makes no sense to wish them success. How has utah winning ever been helpful to BYU?

Yeah, I don’t recall a single moment in my life when I wished for the Utes to do well.

What's with the delay in releasing the schedule? Was supposed to be Dec. 1. I assume it's got something to do with Texas and OU negotiating early outs?

Supposedly it'll be out before Feb1. Supposedly.

Everybody fighting to play Texas and Oklahoma for the final year I'm sure has a lot to do with it. At this point I just assume that the 4 new additions probably won't be playing either team. The hateful 8 will get the games.

Edit - my math probably doesn't add up. With 9 conference games, some new members will get them. Maybe they worked it out by each new memebers gets to play at least one. Who knows, I just wish they'd release it already.

Jake Retzlaff, the supposed top ranked JUCO QB just signed with BYU
sounds good, but wonder why he only had offers from dumb schools like Hawaii and NMSU

I’ve heard that he was a surprise as the starter for his HS as a jr. His senior year was cancelled by COVID. This, plus the scholarship crunch from the free Covid year of eligibility limited his options.
