High school junior year. We scored a touchdown with six seconds remaining in the state championship game to close the gap to 28-27. PAT wide left.

Terrible finish to an otherwise awesome, undefeated season.

Came here to post about the Davies suspension. BYU's one true shot at a national title in basketball.

For those of you that don't want to watch the full 3-hour video, Otis Nixon's at bat starts at about the 3:30:30 mark when Timlin comes into the game as a relief pitcher to get one out.

I copied the link at the current time, but it's not working like it's supposed to. Thanks for that.

I didn't realize Timlin was that old. He was great with the Red Sox 10 years later in 2003-4.

Fixed it for you. Timlin also pitched in the 2007 World Series for the Red Sox and retired after the 2008 Season. One of my favorite Red Sox relief pitchers.

2003 ALCS Game 7. Aaron effing boon took Timmy Wakefield yard in extras (or bottom of the ninth, but I think it was the 10th) and the Sox season was over.

Oh sure. But those first couple of years with the Sox were really great.

Ha. All Little had to do was pull Martinez earlier and Boone wouldn't have become the hero. "I guess the Yankees are my daddy".

There are a lot of game heartbreaks, but I usually get over them in a day or 30. But looking back over my time following sports, one event stands out as the source of much of the pain.

The Yankees not letting Cashman walk when he demanded more autonomy in 05 or 06. He was GM in name only for the 3 peat set up by Stick Michaels and therefore thought he was the brains of the operation. Since then he has one WS championship, and only then because he grabbed the top 3 FAs the year before.

Brandon Davies suspension. Second is probably Nebraska getting run out of the building at Colorado in 2001. They were #2 and undefeated at the time and my big 12 championship tickets arrived in the mail the morning of the game. I thought we had a legit shot at the national championship after beating Oklahoma in a 1/2 classic match up earlier that season. Even though we ultimately went to the bcs championship game (and got run by Miami) after not going to the conference championship, looking back 21 years later that afternoon in Boulder was the beginning of the end of the dynasty I knew my entire life to that point.
