  • Smoked Pork: BYU vs. Arkansas

Will an SEC team travel to play a non-conference foe west of the Mississippi River? When pigs fly - to Provo, that is, where the Arkansas Razorbacks will come to visit the Cougars this Saturday.

Both teams are banged up and drifting a bit after strong starts to the season. The Razorbacks expect to have their longtime starting QB K.J. Jefferson back for the game after he missed last week’s blowout loss against Mississippi State.

For Cougar fans, all eyes will be on Jaren Hall, who had a lackluster first half against Notre Dame amid rumors of a shoulder injury.

BYU will have the altitude and the home crowd. They opened as slight favorites, but Arkansas is now favored by 1.5 points. Here’s hoping Sitake and Co. find a way to send the Razorbacks crying wee, wee, wee all the way home after a BYU victory at LES. Go Cougars!

Interesting that BYU opened as favorites, and that the line has shifted.

BYU's helmets remind me of something I'd see airbrushed on the tailgate of a jacked up truck in Carbon County.

I'm over having new uniform combos each week. 2-3 times a year fine. But this is getting silly.

I'm certain that my attitude towards the helmet is directly correlated with last Saturday's performance.

Exactly. You want a new uniform? Earn it.

The last time we wore our traditional home uniform-- white helmet, royal facemask, royal jersey, white pants-- was October 2020, against Louisiana Tech.

I had the exact same thought about the tailgate airbrushing after seeing those mountains. I'm guessing though that if we consider the average age of posters here, it's probably a good thing that we generally aren't on board. Like, maybe it's not for us?

72% of bets on the spread and 71% of the money has been bet on Arkansas, which helps explain the line movement. The money line bets are even more lopsided - 84% of bets and 91% of the money is on the Razorbacks. The over/under has shifted from an opening of 59.5 to a current 66.

Based on BYU's 1st half performance the last several weeks, it's hard not to think of the 1st half spread as easy money - Arkansas -0.5.

I have made money off BYU 4 weeks in a row. I would prefer to not make it 5, but went with the emotional hedge when BYU was favored by 2

Thinking about heading to the game and trying the scalp method. Normally I would just take advantage of the motorcycle parking, but my 14 yo is begging to go with me. Where would be the best place to park for a lowly non CC member.

Parking lot by the athletics complex, if you get there early enough. Which you should. Hit up cougar canyon, get some lunch, head in the stadium.

Even more bets and money have been put on Arkansas since my earlier post (now 75% of bets and 74% of money) but BYU is now the favorite again by 1 - 1.5 points. I'm guessing that Vegas knows something about injuries even if it isn't public knowledge yet.
