Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

    USA Today Poll

It is the preseason, but, if TCU or BSU goes undefeated, this is their best shot ever at a national championship.

BYU getting votes is more about tradition than true probability. BYU will not likely be top 25 caliber.

What do you all think about the utes?

Utah could be top-20 and BYU could be ranked in week 2. Nice.

I'm very surprised BYU is that high.

My deepest apologies. That has been fixed. May you be richly blessed.

I'm a proponent of the SEC, but Florida and LSU are ranking obscenely higher than they should be, and I'm not so sure Arkansas and Georgia deserve to be ranked. Also, what in the world is Ole Miss doing with 48 points in the "others receiving votes" portion? I wouldn't be surprised if they finish last in the SEC West.

Teams that should be ranked: Houston, Navy, UConn.

I'm sure this is just my blue-tinted goggles speaking, but I think Bronco has shown the ability to re-load after losing top talent. Don't know about you guys, but I had very low expectations for '07 due to a new QB and losing so many playmakers, but it turned out being an excellent season.

"BYU will not likely be top-25 Caliber" is just too strong a statement in my opinion. I think T-25 is expected this season (and if we win 8 games, we may even deserve that ranking).

Houston is too Jekyll and Hyde for me...but you're right, they probably deserve to slide in at the 25th spot.

I don't think top 25 is a reasonable expectation for BYU this year. Considering you went 10-3 in 2008 and barely kept your ranking, 8 wins won't be nearly good enough. That would either mean zero quality wins, or for every quality win there was a loss of approximate negative value.

It's a tough schedule this year. You would do well to go 9-3 and get to the Poinsettia Bowl.

Two non-BCS teams starting in the top ten. Has that ever happened before?

Are you kidding? I can't find a year when even one non-BCS team has started in the top ten. Utah came off of their undefeated 2004 season and didn't even make it in to the next year's preseason rankings at all. Things have changed an awful lot in just five years or so.
