Lame. Jan is a media member now. If media is allowed then he should be too.

The most appalling part of this is that Whitt, an active member of the church, apparently isn't buying the higher standard of integrity and honor that BYU and all associated with BYU adhere to.

I do wonder if Jan's older brother is now a BYU fan again, though.

Amen. I hope his bishop pulls his recommend, if he hadn't already done so after that Wyoming dust-up.

Whitt grew up in Provo & went to BYU. He's familiar with the extensive record of investment wizards and MLM outfits emanating from that fine institution.

But the football program is beyond questioning & caution?

Even on the first day, you can get an idea on personnel, their raw potential, how they handle themselves, etc. Every year coaches add wrinkles, sometimes very small ones, that cumulatively amount to an edge. JJ played D1 for an opponent 8 months ago that Utah will be playing again in 2010.

I used to see so many things in practice that if I were a mole I could pass along to upcoming opponents, and there is plenty of crazy stuff that happens that would be blown completely out of proportion if the public knew.

Practice security is a no brainer. I would have been more concerned if KW had ignored it and let it slide.
Really? Sorry, but I am calling BS on this.

This was a pretty petty ass move by Whit. But excuse it however you want.

Both of these posts are gorgeous. Kudos, you two.

Makes one wonder why 1280 didn't just send Kyle Gunther. Are they trying to :stirthepot: me thinks we all know the answer to this.

Geez, dude, imagine what a practice is like and think of what might be valuable information.

Formations, plays run out of which formations, numbers of times plays have been practiced, defensive formations, man vs zone coverages run from which type of offensive formations, defensive line alignments, number and repitition of blitz packages, route repetitions, degree of detail in route running, types of routes run under blitz situations, down & distance play tendencies, pre-snap defensive adjustments to offensive personnel shifts, areas of emphasis the offensive / defensive coordinator spends time on, special teams situations, emphasis, etc.

Here's an extreme example of how intelligence and insight can make a big difference. In 2006 after Urban Meyer was at Florida for 2 years, Brian Johnson was at a party watching the National Championship game, repeatedly predicting - and nailing - plays Florida was going to run, in detail, based on down & distance, personnel, formation, defensive alignment, etc.

An external observer obviously can't get to that degree of insight, but even seemingly small, inconsequential observations have the potential to amount to an edge. Even a small edge can make a difference.
